High Altitude, High Achievement

I can help you increase your ACT score by understanding how the designers of the test think and what they expect. You will take practice tests developed by the people who develop the actual test (and take the practice test on your time). When we meet we will only review your incorrect responses and help you understand what to do the next time to pick the correct response. I'm a lifelong learner who enjoys sharing my passion for learning with others. I enjoy teaching and I'm patient with students. I focus on coaching students on the learning process as well as the content. I believe that eve [more]

PhD and Former TA in Biology and English, GRE, ACT and AP Courses

I have always had a great appreciation for learning and teaching. My current role as a postdoctoral researcher involves mentoring a lot of new students and introducing them to the concepts and experiments we use in our lab. I have significant experience as a teacher and mentor, but also as a learner, so I am very conscientious of how much a student can handle at one time, and how to take different approaches to tackle a problem. There is nothing I love more than helping someone to understand ... [more]

English, ACT, SAT, writing, gifted ed, special ed, and more!

Okay, so I love this section of the ACT too. This section is all about clarity. You have to learn to think a bit like a writer. The ACT test wants you to avoid redundancy, state things simply, be clear, and be aware of context. With a few lessons I have seen scores gain anywhere from 5-15+ points depending on the students starting score, and practice outside of our sessions. I regularly score 35-36 on this section. I graduated from the University of Albany with a degree in Honors English in 2005. I taught English, history, and chemistry at a high school in the Bronx for six years. I was pro [more]

Doctor and Princeton Alum - Tutor for Math, Biology, English/Writing

Hi there! I am a newly minted physician doing my intern year at the University of Colorado. I got my MD from the University of Pittsburgh back in May. For my undergraduate studies, I studied molecular biology at Princeton University and graduated in 2012. I spent the year after living in Denver and working as a full-time math tutor at a high school in Denver's far northeast region, where I tutored two or three 9th graders at a time for 6 periods a day. My job was to work on getting those kids... [more]

Professional Teacher looking for students to tutor!

I am an elementary school teacher who is looking for a bit of tutoring on the side. I love working one on one with students because you are able to accomplish so much together and see great amounts of growth! My favorite subjects to tutor (and to teach!) include everything English and Spanish based. I am willing to do face-to-face and online lessons. Don't hesitate with any other questions! I have always been a grammar stickler and can almost never read a book without finding a typo or... [more]

Learning is serious business, but it can also be fun

I'm a strong believer in experiential learning, based on my years of work as a corporate trainer. Whenever possible, I like to incorporate activities that use color, movement, sound and other elements, depending on the student's learning style. I provide tutoring for a Denver-based tutoring company as well as for WyzAnt. I have taught university courses and tutored both high school and elementary school students. In addition, I have taught and coached adults in corporate settings. My educ... [more]

Language Tutor: English, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew

I am a well traveled graduate of New York University whose many passions include languages of all varieties. Having spent an extensive amount of time abroad (in Argentina, Morocco, Israel and Japan among others) I know the difficulties of language-learning firsthand. With a bachelor's degree in Linguistic Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies, I also know some of the best ways to overcome those difficulties, as I have become intimately engaged with the intricacies of second language acquisi... Enthusiastic and Detail-Oriented European Historian

I'm a recent master's recipient who loves talking about history. My main interest is in European History - specifically, veteran's affairs during and after World War I - although I'd be happy to discuss any historical subject. I've always felt that the most important part of history is sharing it with others, and I'm so excited to get an opportunity to tutor. While I was earning my master's degree, I worked as a teaching assistant for a year. My job was to get to know students, teach them... [more]

Raising Grades, Scores, and Confidence in ACT/SAT, Math, and Science

My students have earned over $700,000 in scholarships with their hard work and preparing for the ACT/SAT with me. I've tutored dozens of students to ACT scores over 30, and many more who have increased their scores 3-8 points to scores of 26+. ACT English tends to be the easiest section to improve scores on, so I always look forward to working with students who need help on it because I can generally boost scores 5 or more points in a matter of weeks. My ACT/SAT students have earned over $500,000 in scholarships and they consistently score 26-36 (ACT), 1200+ (SAT) & improve 2 letter grades in [more]
