Hello. I love mathematics, students of mathematics, and am enthusiastic about tutoring. I have a BA in Mathematics from UC Irvine, and a California Math Secondary teaching Credential. I have recently retired from LAUSD, where I taught high school math for 30 years that included 10 years in a gifted magnet program. I taught basic math, pre-algebra, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus, trigonometry, AP calculus, both AB and BC levels, basic probability and statistics, and some integrated ma... [more]

I have taught classes in ACT math and have helped my students achieve their academic goals. Similar to SAT Math, my strategy for students is about thoroughly re-familiarizing students with all the math they learned over the past several years. Typically, we will go through an ACT book of problems and do several exercises together, inspiring dozens of those "Oh yeah!" moments. After each lesson, the student gets stronger in the material, and can feel it. I have been happily tutoring for over 15 years, and so I have learned to relate mathematical concepts to a wide variety of students. As f [more]

My name is Andy, and I love math. I hold a BS and MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In high school, I competed in various prestigious math and science competitions. I have gotten 800s in SAT math I and II. Learn from the best! I am patient and have great ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. Over the years I have developed various techniques on how to solve problems very quickly and accurately. When looking at a problem, there may be multiple ways to solve... [more]

Having received perfect scores on the SAT math and SAT II math (ACT wasn't around when I was in HS), I have a thorough understanding of the material. I have over 10 years tutoring experience and have an excellent track record of student score improvement. There is a plethora of experienced tutors available to you, but here are some of the things that set me apart: *Perfect SAT/SAT II scores - In addition to a 2400 SAT, I have scored an 800 GRE and a 780 GMAT. *Extraordinary track record - The vast majority of my students see unusually high results. My students frequently go from producing C [more]

I have experience in all aspects of Algebra. That comes from tutoring Algebra 1, Algebra 2, SAT Math, ACT Math and GRE Math. I have taught algebra in a classroom, a learning center and one-on-one. Having tested these strategies in the January 2016 ACT and scoring a perfect 36, I know that the key to excelling in ACT Math is being able to efficiently & accurately model details within each problem. Proper modeling & organization are the key to answering early questions quickly without losing accuracy. Students who manage to efficiently answer early questions will have a time advantage when attempting the more difficult questions in the latter half of the section. Are you looking for an expert math & standardized test tutor with 10+ years of experience? Someone who doesn't just teach the s [more]

I started tutoring ACT math in 2009. Since then I have made it a priority to become an expert in all 4 parts of the ACT. The timing, the subject matter, and the best testing practices. I hold ACT prep sessions every Sunday for groups. I also do private appointments. I believe every high school student should have a chance at college and that these standard tests should not hold them back. Hi all, I am a tutor with over 15 years of experience, teaching and tutoring mathematics. I love that ah ha moment when a student gets it. I strongly believe that there is more than one way to get [more]

In addition to teaching in private schools, I have worked as a math tutor for over forty years, with students ranging from third grade to adult. I have also run the tutoring program for a private school, been a math consultant for a public alternative school, and worked at an educational clinic for children with learning disabilities. I have also volunteered at my daughter's elementary school, and coached their teams for the local Math Super Bowl for the past four years. In high school, I par... [more]

Hi there. I am the classic example of a teacher who just loves to teach. Although I am new to Wyzant, I have been teaching for many years. I have 26 years' experience in SAT and ACT prep for high school students. I can work with students who only need a little bit of fine tuning, or students who need a full program covering all aspects of the test from A-Z. I pride myself on being skilled at diagnosing exactly what students need to improve their scores. I don't want to waste students' t... [more]

As far as I know, I got one of the highest scores in this section when I took it. I received a score of 34 in this part. I also have the tests I took from these years as practice. I have had a passion for helping students in need ever since my years in high school. This makes this a great opportunity for me. In the past, I have had great success in assisting kids and reinforcing the material taught to them. I hope to continue this trend with this program. My strong suit definitely has to be anything math. I am proficient in any math subject taught in high school up to multivariable calculus. [more]
