After over 20 years teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, SAT prep, Geometry and Analysis of Functions I am highly qualified to teach ACT Math. Since March 5th's newly introduced SAT, I have engaged in a self-imposed study comparing and contrasting ACT versus the new SAT. I recently prepared 3 students who took the new SAT and am encouraging one of them to pursue the ACT. I spent hours researching appropriate workbooks to use for both courses. I have compiled a formula study guide for my students to use and am making mini lessons for the trig component of the ACT. [more]

I have been tutoring Math and French for about 10 years now. Before that I was teaching computer science at college level in Montreal, Canada (where I am from) and then in a private school to children from Kindergarten to grade 8. My training as a computer programmer has allowed me to have a better than normal understanding of computer software in general. I strongly believe that you need to master topics real well before you can even start to explain them to anyone. I gravitated towards tuto... [more]

I have tutored multiple students for the ACT Math test. All of them have shown increased test scores and understanding of the material. They have been satisfied with my help and their subsequent test scores. My current Master's program at USF also has covered the topics on the test. I currently am a Middle School Math Teacher in the Public School System. I hold a B.A. from Brandeis University in Massachusetts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of South Florida for Mathematics. At 13 I first took the SAT and received a 770 in Math. Four years later I took the SAT again [more]

Thank you for looking into my profile. I am eager to tutor just a few students at this time. The specifics: I strive to be professionally competent, punctual, reliable, and prepared. I have eleven years of experience with students of all ages. Although math and science are my specialties, I hope for my students to excel in all subjects. I tutor algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus often enough that a textbook is not necessary for lessons. I encourage "mental math" and discourage cal... [more]

I was a high school teacher searching for a way to stay relevant in an indifferent world. When I discovered tutoring and Wyzant, I found my true calling! I will never go back to classroom teaching again. There is no finer, more satisfying feeling than seeing that flash of recognition brighten my student?s face when he or she understands what was unfathomable only a moment before. There?s simply no way in classrooms today to reach every student. The last time I was in the school system, I had ... [more]

Real Experience - I have tutored over 300 students in all areas of math including ACT/SAT math, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, Algebra Regents, and more. I specialize in SAT/ACT Math. I teach students how to look at problems, how to break them down, which methods, strategies, and techniques to apply, and how to derive the quickest solution. I go through problems step-by-step and show students what to look for and what tools are necessary. I enjoy sharing my knowledge while helping others overcome academical challenges. I am very patient and I tutor through constant interaction and real life [more]

I have loved math ever since I can remember. I used to play with dominoes and do puzzles as a child. This love transferred into teaching in many different ways. I taught in a traditional classroom and have also enjoyed working in a small group settings for over 10 years. I teach math only for the SAT, SSAT, ACT, FSA and up through Algebra 2. I look forward to helping you or your child achieve their goals! I push my students to work hard to uncover their true potential. Those who wor... [more]

I have tutored SAT/ACT prep in the past when I worked at a Huntington Learning Center. I have been teaching Math since 2002. One of my favorite parts about teaching is proving people wrong when they think they can't learn something. I especially enjoy that moment when they realize they've gotten the hang of a difficult topic and they are so proud of themselves. Repetition is the key! I work to find the gaps in your learning so they can be filled. Simply going back to learn the old stuff can clear up a lot of the struggles with new material. I pride myself on trying my bes... My name is William and I graduated from University of South Florida's engineering department with double degree bachelors in computer science and information systems, also a minor in economics. Later I obtained a master of science in management information systems degree from Florida State University. While going through school I have nearly always tutored on the side, mathematics for the most part, on and off for about 4 years with mostly high school students and some adults. I had achieved...
