The Math section of the ACT Exam is extremely complex, as it involves material from multiple different math subject areas. I focus my ACT Math lessons on two things: 1) completing the problems on the page and ensuring an understanding of necessary steps to complete for each type of problem. 2) rebuilding essential fundamental skills that make up the problems, ensuring students have all necessary skill sets to execute more complicated problems Developing fundamental and advanced skill sets for execution of the ACT leads to improved test scores, as well as a more comprehensive understanding [more]

I scored a 35 on the ACT overall when I took it in high school with a 35 subscore in math. Since then I went on to take Calculus I and II, Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Statistics and Linear Algebra in college, so my math foundation is deep and solid. But more importantly I haven't forgotten what it is like to learn each concept for the first time. I work to explain each concept in several different ways to find what makes the most sense to you or your student. I enjoy tutoring ACT Math because it is perhaps the one section of the ACT where content study and review can reall [more]

I currently teach Honors Geometry at a Great Hearts school. I was drawn to teach at a classical academy because I knew I'd not only be able, but in fact encouraged to do more than simply put formulas and worksheets in front of my students. My students prove every single theorem that they use, with guidance from the original master of geometry himself: Eucild. With his help we not only explore the content of geometrical proofs, but take time to wonder about their structure, and what it really ... [more]
