We will prepare for the ACT by studying the following subjects: Pre-Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Plane Geometry, and Trigonometry. We will also cover matrices. In addition, we will put together a weekly study program to increase the score. I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I gauge where the student is at in knowing the concepts by having him/her work out the problems. Every problem has two parts: the first is recognizing wh [more]

I have been tutoring both ACT and SAT Math for over 10 years. I have 20+ years as a math and science subject tutor and 10 years as an ACT/SAT math/science tutor. As a working engineer I use these math principles almost every day. I bring real world examples of just how practical these math skills can be and enjoy helping students enjoy learning math. I began tutoring by helping other students in my high school classes. In college, I worked as a private math and physics tutor starting with my own fraternity brothers and branching out. Subjects ranged... [more]

I have helped private high school students in Orange County prepare for the ACT Math test. The ACT Mathematics Test is a 60-question, 60-minute test designed to measure the mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken by the end of 11th grade. Students have difficulty recalling and confidently applying all the Math concepts they have learned in the past 4-5 years. That requires a skillful teacher to help bridge all those Math concepts learned in the past 4-5 years. I help students to skillfully navigate and confidently build those skills to successfully prepare f [more]

Teaching mathematics, I aim to convey to my students the thrill of discovery that comes with true understanding. To do mathematics effectively is to learn actively, through some degree of struggle and trial-and-error. Otherwise, mathematics remains a disjointed jumble of intimidating facts, easily forgotten and never appreciated. I meet students with varying skill levels, mathematical backgrounds, and academic goals, and I tailor my lessons accordingly. I bring out hands-on materials when... [more]

On the ACT Math test, you are given 60 minutes to answer 60 questions. In terms of time allotted per question, the Math Test ranks the highest among the subject tests, averaging one minute per question. ACT tests you on knowledge that you?ve learned, not just intuited. The Math Test covers the material taught in your middle school and high school math classes. Those classes covered a lot of ground, and in order to do well on this test, you have to have a good fundamental grasp of math topics. I help students understand the format and content of the test, question types, strategies for guessi [more]

I have been told that my explanations are very clear and easy to understand. As a tutor, what I consider my greatest strength is how I am able to make learning math fun. I create an environment where my students find learning math to be enjoyable, taking away all the stress and anxiety that comes with lea... [more]
