I have more than 15 years of experience in tutoring students of all ages and levels of education from elementary to graduate school. I am most interested in changing the way my students perceive themselves when approaching math. Throughout the years, I have had the most rewarding experience when my students, besides turning their grades around, feel empowered to the point they become a math resource to their classmates. I take my classes very personally and work together with parents to ident... [more]

In high school, I scored in the 92nd percentile on the ACT Math section. I can teach your student how to manage their time, solve problems quickly, and be successful on the ACT Math section. My passion for mathematics began when I was in 11th grade. As a homeschooled student, I had a flexible schedule which allowed me to take Algebra II at Norco College. I had an amazing professor who made me realize how fun math is. After that, I decided to major in math. In May 2012, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor's in Mathematics. For the next two years, I tutored math at Norco College. I re [more]

As a professional ACT tutor, I focus on the moment-by-moment experience my students have while doing each specific type of problem this test offers. By noticing where they get in their own way, my students develop their own techniques and learn how to teach themselves. I fully expect you to discover, for example, that within the Math section, you need to write out every step! I serve merely as a guide for this self-discovery and have seen phenomenal results with this approach. Both the ACT and SAT math sections of these exams are at times very tricky! They don't necessarily always test the prowess of math skills but more with understanding just what is being asked to do. Perhaps the most fundamental error students have when taking these tests is not carefully reading the problem or skipping the problem because it "appears" to be difficult. The technique of looking at each of the multiple choice answers, regardless of the "complexity" of the problem, is always important because many of those choices can be dismissed immediately. I taught SAT, ACT, PSAT, and GRE test preparation classes, tutored one-on-one for these tests, as well as for PSAE, SSAT, and SAT subject tests for chemistry, math, literature, and biology, and was an ACT trainer for new teachers. I began working for TPR in 1994, quit for a few years while I taught in two different secondary schools, then returned to the company. Over the years, I have led many teacher development workshops in schools in the Chicago area and have both edited and written for company publications. [more]

I have been helping students prepare for the math portion of the ACT for 5 years. Students have commented that they are more confident and more familiar with the ACT after receiving help from me. Hello, I'm a proud California State University, Long Beach alumni. I have been passionately helping students succeed in their classes for the past 5 years. Parents love that I don't just help the student finish their current homework or prepare them for tests, but also provide them with extra work and materials that will help them grasp the concept better. Not only do students love the fact that I c [more]
