I have tutored a graduate student in the GRE by discussing methods (i.e., recognizing a problem, setting it up and solving it) and guiding her to practice with those methods. Since the ACT uses similar skills, ACT scores will also improve from my tutoring. I am an ex-national laboratory Ph.D. physicist who is between careers and looking to stay busy during my long job search. Tutoring gives students benefit from my extensive math and science education, and my proficiency in many subjects. It also helps me to continue to use this education, and so I consider it a win-win situation for the st [more]

I graduated with a degree in Physics and Biophysics with a minor in Mathematics from Loyola University Chicago. In order to succeed in my classes, I was required to execute mathematical problems successfully and efficiently. In the Physical Sciences section of the MCAT (entry exam for medical school) I scored higher than 90% of other test takers. The MCAT does not permit the use of a calculator, and calculations are a main focus on the MCAT. Timing is key when taking the ACT, and I am able to provide students with quick ways to solve math problems. [more]
