The ACT math test requires you to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes or less. To be successful you need both math knowledge and reasoning skills. This can be much easier if you: master a few testing strategies; have the ability to recognize a dozen common types of problems given on every ACT; and are comfortable with basic algebra and geometry concepts. I focus on these three areas in each tutoring session I deliver. I am a former business school professor with a PhD in management science and additional degrees in mathematics and computer science. My minor from Texas A&M University (1991, Cum Laude) is in Accounting. I love working with numbers! I have tutored in ACT Math, as well as arithmetic through Algebra 1, and I have helped students with strategies to score more points. You might point out to me that the ACT has lots of Geometry, but that's OK, because, though I detest proofs, I love working with angles and triangles and other shapes to solve problems. Since the ACT Math section requires solving 60 problems in 60 m [more]

I have over 10 years of experience tutoring various subjects and have worked at least five years preparing students for the Math portion of various entrance exams, ranging from SAT and ACT to GRE and ISEE. Instead of simply teaching students how to "trick" the test, I teach the concepts that are integral to a good score and success once admitted into the intended program of study. I find myself teaching concepts like equations of circles, Trigonometry, matrices, word problem recognition, and many others! [more]
