My most recent ACT Math students took the test in October and called to tell me they had increased their scores. One had raised her Math score by four points and earned a composite score of 29! My ADHD student had raised hers by 5 in math and 6 in reading. It is gratifying to hear how well my students have done, and I am glad to play a part in helping them work toward their dreams. Please call me Miss Peggy--it is much friendlier than Margaret. I absolutely LOVE to teach! It is a joy to help students of all ages, even adults! We manage to have a little fun with it as you learn. I took required Math courses in my Electrical Engineering curriculum, such as: Calculus I, II, & III; Differential Equations; and Complex Variables, to name a few. Prerequisites were: College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Analytic Geometry. Therefore, I have a wide and deep exposure to many Math topics that would be of benefit to my students. I've had many opportunities to teach and tutor during my career and I still get excited and love when I see the "light bulb" come on in the eyes of my students. There is no better feeling than being able to help someone reach a new understanding of something [more]

I am an Alabama certified math teacher that loves to work one-on-one with students. You can be successful with the right guidance and I would love to help you. I want you to understand what you are doing and not just memorize problems. I want to help you build a solid base so you can move forward on your own. You don't have to say "I'm not good in math". Let's practice to get you on your way. I have taught at public and private schools and the classroom does not fit... [more]

As a tutor, I am in a unique position to help my students learn. I am neither a parent nor a teacher, so I can't deal out punishments or bad grades. I'm in neutral territory. This puts me in a great place, because I am free to act as teacher, mentor, guide, friend, or confidante. My role can change to meet the requirements of the individual student. I have several students who are in the same subject in school, yet our sessions together are vastly different because my role in each of their li... [more]

I like math, and I enjoy helping others understand mathematical concepts and methodologies. I really enjoy that moment when "the light bulb goes on" and a student "gets it". Explaining the underlying concepts and relating them to something the student can understand really helps. I believe the goal of mathematics is understanding not merely finding a solution to a particular problem or following some recipe of memorized equations and steps. I have tutored math through Faulkner State and Pen... [more]

I made A's in B's in all math classes through high school and college, from pre-algebra to calculus II. I also made over a 1200 on the GRE and a 30 on the ACT. I have tutored many students in sections of the GRE, SAT, and ACT. My name is Jordan, and I am from Gulfport, MS. I am 31 years old and have 10+ years of experience as a tutor. I have worked as a teacher in the public school system, and worked 5 years exclusively as a private tutor. I have been with Wyzant for 4 years and have progressed as a tutor as the company has grown. I worked in my college's Writing and Speaking Centers for 6 yea [more]
