ACT Math is a topic I am very knowledgeable about! I taught a test prep class last year in which 80% of the students increased their score by 2 points and more! I have a Masters in Mathematics Education from Southern Arkansas University. I have taught math for over 10 years on a variety of levels. From 5th grade math all the way to university level math, I love teaching the basics as well as algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus. Math is more than just memorizing formulas; math is about critical thinking and problem solving skills. During my 10+ years of teaching experience, I hav [more]

I am a graduate of Tulane University where I received my BS and MS in Neuroscience. During completion of these degrees, I undertook rigorous coursework in mathematics and biological sciences, including courses on the philosophy of science and mathematical modeling. I have extensive tutoring experience and have worked with Sylvan Learning Center, volunteered at local schools as a tutor, and met with students for one-on-one tutoring. I also have a small personal library of education and peda... [more]

I tutor for the Math portion of the ACT. Most students bring a practice book with them or the actual results from a test that they have taken. I have been teaching for 40 years and I still love it. For a student to be successful in the classroom, he or she needs to feel confident in the subject matter. I can give you that confidence. Over the years, I have tutored many students and enjoy the one-to-one learning environment. I currently teach Algebra 2, Precalculus, and College Algebra and Trigonometry. I have taught and tutored other math subjects like Geometry and ACT. I use the MathXL p [more]

I've always excelled academically, and I have a passion for sharing that experience with others. There is no greater thrill for me than the satisfaction of a job well-done. While completing both my Bachelor's and Master's of Arts in a single four-year timespan, I learned the value of hard work, time management, and most importantly, having a fantastic support system. I would not have achieved what I did without the help of my teachers and advisors, and now I want to pass that on to others. M... [more]

I am a recent graduate of the Tulane Masters of Pharmacology Program offered at the School of Medicine (graduated May 2015). I graduated from undergrad at Tulane with a Neuroscience major and Economics minor. As someone who is passionate about giving back to the New Orleans community, I volunteer often and have completed more than 200 hours of community service in the last three years, a large portion of those hours coming from helping out with a first grade class at the KIPP charter school o... Kumon Math and Reading Center was my first tutoring job. Kumon helps students get academically ahead of their peers in their regular schools. Because of this, students have confronted me with Kumon math assignments on material that they have not yet learned in their regular schools. It was my responsibility to teach them these new concepts. I have also worked with ESL and special needs students at Kumon. I have worked with Kumon for three years. I have also been self-employed as a priva... [more]

I've taken the ACT in High School and graduated from UNO with electrical engineering degree. Hi, "My Turning Point Struggle with Math" I am Martin. I am an Electrical Engineer. When I started UNO, my ACT score placed me in remedial math. In my defiance of this placement, I received permission by the Dean to skip remedial math and take my first college algebra course. I ended up failing, having to retake, and failing again. The study skills I used in high school did not work at the university level and I was not as good at math as I thought I was. This was a crossroads for me. ... [more]

I am enrolled as a PhD student in Biostatistics. I currently hold a Master of Science in mathematics (statistics). My areas of expertise are probability and statistics, high school math (algebra, geometry, and pre-calculus), college math (pre-calculus and calculus), and micro-economics. The method I have found works best is to have the student try to identify why the class is not going well. Often students get behind and get frustrated and say "I don't get it." This is not a good way to appr... [more]

I graduated from SLU with a degree in Math. After that I went to UNO and got my Masters degree in Mathematics. I taught at Delgado City Park for 6 years while simultaneously pursuing an Electrical engineering degree and getting married. For the last 6 years, I have worked as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. I have tutored from the time I can remember. I have the ability to teach myself and 5 minutes later be able to teach you. I have a bachelors and masters in Mathematics. I... [more]
