The ACT math is tricky because you are expected to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. A student is required to have a solid foundation in high school math (most notably algebra 2, trigonometry, and geometry). I try to help students by teaching them the most important concepts, the ones that are tested over and over again on the ACT. I also teach them various techniques to help work through a problem when they draw a blank. I did not take an ACT when I was in high school, however I have tutored ACT/SAT math for over 5 years. ACT math can be challenging, it draws on the student's knowledge of algebra 1 & 2 as well as geometry. Accuracy and speed are the skills required to be successful. Students have to practice these problems with a teacher who is experienced in these subject area. I have successfully taught algebra and geometry and am qualified to prepare students for this exam. I have eight years classroom experience working with students of differing strengths and weaknesses. Students with varying learning styles and abilities can be taught using a variety of creative techniques. Using this approach to teaching [more]

"The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense." Thomas A. Edison The above captures all that I believe is necessary to succeed - in academics, athletics, or life in general. I have found Edison's words to be true in my own experience, and I believe anyone, student or otherwise, can reach his/her goals by working hard, being relentless, but keeping a good head on his/her shoulders all the while. Soon after ar... [more]

I scored a 36 on the ACT Math Test because I knew exactly what to expect on test day. Many students struggle on the ACT Math section, not because they lack the particular skills being tested, but because they have trouble understanding what the questions are asking them to do and managing their time effectively. In addition to a comprehensive review of all the math concepts tested on the ACT, I teach students how to understand the test maker's logic, and how to approach every question systematically. You don't need to be a genius to get a high score. [more]

I have been trained by a tutoring company in NYC to prepare students for the ACT. The math section doesn't leave a lot of time left over, so in addition to providing tutoring on the content I work with students to apply test taking techniques. The techniques I teach are focused on how our working memories function and are geared towards reading the questions properly and eliminating the negative feedback loops that show up when students feel stressed about time pressure. Hello, Thanks for taking a look at my profile! Please review my subject qualifications, student feedback, and detailed desc [more]

I graduated with a BA from Rutgers University in May 2014, and an M.Sc. in 2017 in Mathematical Finance. At Rutgers University, I worked as a math tutor from my first semester freshman year to my last semester senior year, tutoring subjects from algebra and precalculus to calculus 1-4, Math Analysis, and other upper-level courses. I helped hundreds of students throughout the various struggles presented in the undergraduate math curriculum and have aided all types of learners. I have helped st... [more]

I'm a full-time high school science and math teacher and can help you or your child focus on test-taking strategies as well as solidifying understanding of the material itself. The math covered on the test isn't generally as challenging as some of the harder problems taught in school, but being able to work through the questions quickly is key. I find nothing more rewarding than helping students to deeply understand how things work and to watch them grow more and more confident in their own abilities. I am a full-time high school physics and engineering teacher, and the classroom setting allow [more]

I have taken graduate level statistics courses, giving me the necessary framework and expertise. That said, strong math instruction comes from meeting a student at his or her level of ability and comfort. First and foremost, I focus on practical knowledge: I want my students to get ACT Math questions right. But I always keep an eye out for where I can develop the student as a mathematician -- not just a test-taking automaton. I'm exclusively an SAT/ACT tutor. I provide value to parents by consistently outperforming even the highest-priced tutors. I draw on both years of experience as a course [more]
