I scored a 36 on the ACT Math Test because I knew exactly what to expect on test day. Many students struggle on the ACT Math section, not because they lack the particular skills being tested, but because they have trouble understanding what the questions are asking them to do and managing their time effectively. In addition to a comprehensive review of all the math concepts tested on the ACT, I teach students how to understand the test maker's logic, and how to approach every question systematically. You don't need to be a genius to get a high score. [more]

I specialize in Test Prep, and have worked with many students preparing them for the ACT. I have a very strong Technical background, with a BS in Engineering from WPI. The ACT is a tricky test, and can create time issues. I work with students on 3 areas: building their core skills, and better understanding how to attack the tricky problems. Secondly I help the students master Time Management. Lastly, I work with the student to develop a test taking Strategy. I have successfully helped students raise their Math Score 100+ points. [more]

The ACT math is tricky because you are expected to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. A student is required to have a solid foundation in high school math (most notably algebra 2, trigonometry, and geometry). I try to help students by teaching them the most important concepts, the ones that are tested over and over again on the ACT. I also teach them various techniques to help work through a problem when they draw a blank. I did not take an ACT when I was in high school, however I have tutored ACT/SAT math for over 5 years. I have been trained by a tutoring company in NYC to prepare students for the ACT. The math section doesn't leave a lot of time left over, so in addition to providing tutoring on the content I work with students to apply test taking techniques. The techniques I teach are focused on how our working memories function and are geared towards reading the questions properly and eliminating the negative feedback loops that show up when students feel stressed about time pressure. I'm a full-time high school science and math teacher and can help you or your child focus on test-taking strategies as well as solidifying understanding of the material itself. The math covered on the test isn't generally as challenging as some of the harder problems taught in school, but being able to work through the questions quickly is key. I find nothing more rewarding than helping students to deeply understand how things work and to watch them grow more and more confident in their own abilities. I am a full-time high school physics and engineering teacher, and the classroom setting allow [more]

"The three great essentials to achieve anything worthwhile are, first, hard work; second, stick-to-itiveness; third, common sense." Thomas A. Edison The above captures all that I believe is necessary to succeed - in academics and athletics alike. I have found Edison's words to be true in my own experience, and I believe any student with a reasonable goal can achieve it by working hard, being relentless, but keeping a good head on his/her shoulders all the while. Soon after arriving at Bosto... [more]
