ACT Math tests math concepts from basic mathematics to Algebra 2 which is similar to SAT Math. Unlike the SAT Math sections, ACT Math requires the test takers to solve more problems in less time, and asks simpler (less tricky) questions. The strategy here is to learn to work quickly by becoming familiar with the math topics. I have been teaching this subject for over 10 years, and I can help you to score higher. In 1998, I started tutoring 3 young kids just to earn extra money as a high schooler, and by 2002, I was doing this as as a full time career with 20+ regular students. Who would have t [more]

My entire life I have enjoyed teaching and helping others. Throughout high school and college, friends came to me for help in all subject areas; my teachers even grouped me with struggling students so that I could help them through difficult concepts and class work. After high school I attended the University of Oregon for a B.A. in Economics, with a minor in Mathematics, and a GPA of 3.67. In tutoring, I first focus on understanding exactly what a student is having trouble with, then use a ... [more]

I have always been above average at math. I finished 2 years of calculus in high school (during which I tutored some class mates) but I'm also aware that gifts come on a spectrum. I've been given great opportunities that allow me to better connect with people that I am working with and don't make them feel bad. For example, I was in my second year of calculus at 17 years old. For many people who struggle at math, that would be intimidating, but a 12 year old taught the class. I've also worked... [more]

When tutoring students in math, I help them to know the methodology and to understand the reasoning behind it. So they have a better chance to be able to solve the current problems, to build a better math foundation, and yet to have fun with it as well. I work with the students around their class materials and assignments. Also, if it is needed, I could pick a few additional problems to enhance what they've learned. This connects their school work and would fill the gaps around the subjects... [more]
