I love to see a person light up when they finally understand that concept that has been a stumbling block for them. In my years of teaching in public and private schools (K-8), in my years at home as a mom, and through all the rest of the time I've spent working, it has given me great joy to be able to explain the "why" to people so they can "get it", whether I'm teaching kids or adults. I've spent about 5 years teaching in the classroom: several years as a substitute covering everything i... [more]

I have tutored privately for both a tutoring agency as well as independently in chemistry, mathematics, and statistics. I am interactive with students by asking the students what is unclear about the material, quizzing them on important concepts, and, most important, working with them to solve problems in the textbook. Physical science and math courses are best learned by working problem sets, so that is my emphasis. I am most effective tutoring through the high-school level, through pre-ca... [more]

The ACT Math section is a unique 60 minute test with an average 1 minute per problem, and the test permits the use of a calculator. There are six topics covered on this exam. These are pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry. I want my students to take as many practice exams as they can and to give me the results of their practice exams (preferably at least 2 before we start our sessions together). This gives us a baseline, and we can focus our efforts on topics that you struggled with on those tests. Your investment in the practice books [more]
