I have taught classes in ACT math and have helped my students achieve their academic goals. Similar to SAT Math, my strategy for students is about thoroughly re-familiarizing students with all the math they learned over the past several years. Typically, we will go through an ACT book of problems and do several exercises together, inspiring dozens of those "Oh yeah!" moments. After each lesson, the student gets stronger in the material, and can feel it. I have been happily tutoring for over 15 years, and so I have learned to relate mathematical concepts to a wide variety of students. As f [more]

Hello. I love mathematics, students of mathematics, and am enthusiastic about tutoring. I have a BA in Mathematics from UC Irvine, and a California Math Secondary teaching Credential. I have recently retired from LAUSD, where I taught high school math for 30 years that included 10 years in a gifted magnet program. I taught basic math, pre-algebra, geometry, algebra 2, pre-calculus, trigonometry, AP calculus, both AB and BC levels, basic probability and statistics, and some integrated ma... [more]

As a research scientist, I actually use this math on a regular basis! ;) I've been tutoring high school, college, and graduate students for 23 years in various levels of math. I like to help people move from "Math Anxiety," to "It's only math!" I remember what it was like to struggle with science and math subjects, and I hope to remove the anxiety and frustration from these topics. I think all students can understand these topics... IF they have someone who will teach them the way they learn best. Not all students learn or are motivated the same way, and I adapt my approach for each studen [more]

My name is Andy, and I love math. I hold a BS and MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In high school, I competed in various prestigious math and science competitions. I have gotten 800s in SAT math I and II. Learn from the best! I am patient and have great ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. Over the years I have developed various techniques on how to solve problems very quickly and accurately. When looking at a problem, there may be multiple ways to solve... [more]

I?m a Yale graduate with extensive teaching experience. Languages are my specialty; English is my native tongue, and I speak fluent French, as well as excellent Spanish. I majored in French at Yale and spent long periods of time in France as a child during the summers with a host family. I also took Spanish classes at Yale and have lived in Latin America for over a year, including six months during 2014 in Mexico where I taught scuba diving in all three languages. I've also helped students wi... [more]

I earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT, and since then I've spent years helping students maximize their scores. I can train students to interpret tricky word problems, quickly identify applicable math concepts, and use knowledge of the ACT format to answer questions efficiently. I have been teaching students from elementary school through adulthood since I was twelve years old. My mother, a teacher herself, showed me that students learn best when they are active participants in every stage of the learning process. Thus, I focus on understanding each student's educational background and lear [more]

As a certified teacher, I have helped many students increase their scores on ACT Math. I believe pacing and problem solving are the big challenges on the ACT math section. Pacing is tricky because you have to try to as many questions as possible without losing accuracy. In addition, you have to be able to quickly identify ways to solve problems. This is why studying specifically for ACT math is so important, since it requires you to work faster and more strategically than you have to in math class. [more]

11 years experience; I've been tutoring since I was 18. No charge on your session unless you are fully satisfied. Valedictorian St. Bonaventure High School. BS in Physics from USC. My top priority is to give students a conceptual understanding of the material (as opposed to rote memorization). I do this by asking the student questions to gauge their understanding. Then I assign tailored problems (often that I make up on the spot) to address the material they don't understand. I also lik... [more]

Hi there. I am the classic example of a teacher who just loves to teach. Although I am new to Wyzant, I have been teaching for many years. I have 26 years' experience in SAT and ACT prep for high school students. I can work with students who only need a little bit of fine tuning, or students who need a full program covering all aspects of the test from A-Z. I pride myself on being skilled at diagnosing exactly what students need to improve their scores. I don't want to waste students' t... [more]

Sometimes certain material isn't just as readily accessible to everyone and it can be rather frightening when exam deadlines are approaching. I work with students to understand the scope of what they need to learn and develop steady schedules that we can follow to carefully and timely cover the material for a course or upcoming exam. I have four years experience as a volunteer tutor at Arcadia High School and several months experience as a private tutor. I In those previous experiences I've ... [more]
