I have taught classes in ACT math and have helped my students achieve their academic goals. Similar to SAT Math, my strategy for students is about thoroughly re-familiarizing students with all the math they learned over the past several years. Typically, we will go through an ACT book of problems and do several exercises together, inspiring dozens of those "Oh yeah!" moments. After each lesson, the student gets stronger in the material, and can feel it. I have been happily tutoring for over 15 years, and so I have learned to relate mathematical concepts to a wide variety of students. As f [more]

I am a mathematics major with much experience in studying for the ACT/SAT examinations. I noticed that the ACT is more of an introduction based on preparing for the SAT. The ACT is very fast paced, 60 questions in 60 minutes for the mathematics portion. It contains elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, coordinate geometry, plane geometry, and trigonometry, which are all subjects I am an expert on. I am very confident in ACT math, and I strongly believe students should study the ACT first to prepare for the SAT. Whatever you may choose, I can help you prepare for the ACT College Admittance [more]

Pre-algebra: 14 questions on basic numeric properties, operations and arithmetic. Algebra: 19 questions on solving equations (both regular and quadratic), inequalities and systems of equations in 2 variables, dealing with polynomials and factoring, and some stuff like complex numbers, exponent operations, etc. Geometry: 23 questions on coordinate geometry, lines, parabolas, graphical equations, slopes, midpoints, etc., and planar geometry- properties of shapes like circles, triangles and quadrilaterals. Trigonometry: just 4 questions on triangles and trigonometric functions (sine, cosine). [more]

My name is Andy, and I love math. I hold a BS and MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In high school, I competed in various prestigious math and science competitions. I have gotten 800s in SAT math I and II. Learn from the best! I am patient and have great ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. Over the years I have developed various techniques on how to solve problems very quickly and accurately. When looking at a problem, there may be multiple ways to solve... [more]

Hi! My name is Mazyar but I just go by Mazy. I graduated from UCSD with a B.S in Chemistry. I also did research in organic chemistry with both the Bertrand group at UCSD's chemistry department and the Ballatore group at Skagg's School of Pharmacy. The experience I gained from working with these two groups has solidified my knowledge in both organic chemistry, and chemistry as a whole. My experience with tutoring started when I was in high school when my friend asked me to help them study b... [more]

12 years experience; I've been tutoring since I was 18. Valedictorian St. Bonaventure High School. BS in Physics from University of Southern California. Master's Degree in Physics from University of Pittsburgh I have created a special curriculum for students who are fundamentally struggling with math at any level. This program focuses on changing the student's mindset toward math from habitual rote memorization to genuine thinking and problem-solving. Ask me about my "math fundamentals" ... [more]

The ACT Math section covers a wider variety of math concepts than are tested in the SAT Math section. However, the way the questions are asked tends to be a bit more straightforward on the ACT. The number of different math concepts that are tested in the ACT Math section is limited, yet there are almost unlimited ways that the test can ask students questions about those concepts. The important concepts in ACT are arithmetic, algebra, and geometry that comprise the test questions. Another important fact is how to translate a word question to a mathematical equation. I help students to refresh [more]

I am very passionate about teaching, and I've wanted to be a teacher since my childhood. My first priority is students' success, whatever it takes. I am available to teach students in 4th grade through 12th grade various math subjects, such as algebra/trigonometry/geometry/calculus etc. I can teach some science subjects, such as chemistry/physics until 10th grade. I can help students (at any level) who have interest in learning computer basics and programs (beginner through advance) and devel... [more]

I love teaching and have been doing it for over 10 years. Mentored by the founder of Mathnasium, I have learned the ins and outs of how to effectively make math make sense to students and drastically improve their confidence. While running 11 Mathnasium company-owned centers, I have personally overseen and contributed to the educational growth of over one thousand students! Moreover, I worked in the curriculum department at Mathnasium headquarters, so I am very comfortable with and informed a... [more]
