My experience of 21 years as a Mechanical Engineer at various levels of management has taught me to understand and communicate mathematical concepts to people who may not have a background in math. My 20 years as a home inspector allows me to describe and explain concepts cited in the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Building codes to the lay person so they can pursue repairs and corrective actions. I am fluent in Spanish and allows me to communicate mathematical concepts to persons who... [more]

Hi there! I will beginning my first year teaching this year while earning my credential! I have many years of experience in tutoring and being involved in the classroom. After earning my AA, I became a substitute teacher's aide while I took classes. Classes ranged from physics, elementary math, to literature and methodology classes on how to teach. These classes taught a variety of strategies to best reach each student. This range of different classes gave me great knowledge in many subjects.... [more]

From math haters to math lovers--David has helped students from across the spectrum of math skills to perform at their highest level on the ACT. His own impressive set of college scholarships included a Bank of America scholarship at the regional level for Math, as well an almost perfect score on his Honors Calculus final while a student at UCLA. It is his long experience, however, guiding and teaching ACT test-takers that singles him out as a tutor delivers top-drawer results. I love to teach students of all ages. Tutoring largely started out as a hobby for me. I enjoyed helping my fellow classmates learn material and be successful while at the same time learning from them. That cooperative nature of tutoring, working together to achieve student-inspired goals, is what turned it into a passion. I graduated from the University of Puget Sound in Washington with a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics and Economics. As a math department tutor, I was given the opportunity to help college students of all l... [more]

From that, a personalized learning program is developed to meet the goals of the student. As the student pr... [more]

I consider myself very fortunate because I do not have test anxiety and have always tested very well myself. That being said, I have helped many people, both children and adults, overcome the anxiety and nervousness associated with high stakes testing. I offer individualized preparation programs targeting a student's weaknesses to help them prepare academically as well as information and role-playing to help them prepare psychologically. I find this dual approach to be very effective in helping people of any age to meet their goals in regards to test preparation. [more]

During the past twenty years, I've worked for a national tutoring company, taught for a private school and been an in-home tutor predominantly in the area of middle and high school mathematics. My experience runs from 6th grade math and pre-algebra all the way through advanced and applied calculus. I have extensive training with the SAT, ACT, ASVAB, and other aptitude tests like the SBAC and GED. My students will tell you there's no way I could be a math teacher because "they just get it" whe... [more]

I have worked as a TA and tutor since 2007, helping out college students with their mathematics coursework. I take my time to work with a student, listen to their struggles and questions, and then approach the problem in a way they will understand. I have the ability to explain a problem in multiple ways, so that if one way doesn't work, I don't give up. I recently worked with a HS Sophomore who was getting a D in her geometry class; within two months, it was up to a C+, and she finished t... [more]
