On Saturday mornings during ACT and SAT season, I present seminars at Phoenix-area high schools to help prepare students for these tests. I scored in the 99th percentile on the mathematics portions of standardized college entrance tests, including the ACT. I teach high school mathematics as my full-time job. Part of my job is to help students with special needs to succeed in general education mathematics. I love helping students make sense of high school mathematics. [more]

The math part of the ACT is mostly made up of word problems, which are the part of math which was most challenging for a lot of students in school. This is largely because schools tend to do a poor job of teaching word problems. With some concentrated attention on a variety of word problems without the clues that are generally accidentally given by schoolteachers, you will find that these stories become much easier to solve. When helping people with word problems, I use my expertise as a certified reading specialist along with my math teaching credential to help you to rapid mastery. [more]

My name is Sara. I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics from ASU. Throughout my life I wanted to be a teacher and my favorite subject was math. While in college, I soon found out that a degree in education does not allow you to take many math courses. So, I changed majors to mathematics in order to take as many math courses as I could. I truly love the subject, but I enjoy teaching the subject more. During college, I worked in schools from middle to ... [more]
