I have been tutoring liberal arts subjects for the last nine years. My focus recently has been on test preparation, and I work well with students of all ages. My students typically see a strong rise in their scores no matter where they are starting from, and I work closely with students and parents to create a plan of action and execute it so that students can achieve their academic goals. I have had the opportunity to work with students who have ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and other officially und... [more]

My name is DJ, and I excel in tutoring a variety of math subjects. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS degree in chemical engineering and a minor in statistics. My GPA was 3.5, much higher than that in my math classes, including a 4.0 in classes for my statistics minor. I can tutor most math subjects, including algebra I, algebra II, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics. I also do ACT math and SAT math test prep (I received a 34 on my ACT ... [more]

I recently graduated with my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University. Here, I gained a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, as well as other classes specific to a physical therapy curriculum. Additionally, while I was enrolled at NU, I was selected by the faculty to serve as a tutor to 1st year students in the program in anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology. I also have a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre... [more]

My approach with the Math section of the ACT is 2-fold: 1) Concept review; 2) Test taking strategies. Each student has unique needs. With concept review, I provide materials so that students become proficient all topics covered in the test. I ask my students to take a practice test to determine baseline scores. From there, we work together to develop a custom tutoring plan that consists of math concept review and test-taking strategies tailored to the student. To gain mastery of new skills learned, I encourage my students to practice via assigned homework. My students typically do very well wi [more]

The best tutor isn't the one that you come back and see every week. The best tutor is the last one that you will ever need to see. It should be my responsibility as a professional tutor to do everything in my ability to work on both short-term solutions and long-term solutions to my student's academic struggles. For students to be able fend for themselves in the academic pursuit is a gift of the highest order. However, that gift does not come over night. On the other hand, tests are already ... [more]

When I took my first ACT math, I scored a 16 on the exam, which isn't very good! After studying intensively and understanding the concepts and questions, I retook the ACT math for the second time and scored a 36, which was a huge improvement compared to a 16. I received admissions from several Colorado Universities and was above the standard curve scores in comparison to other students. I understand how hard the ACT was during the time of test taken, especially since I took the ACT twice. I can help you tremendously improve your score! [more]

I am a fourth-year MD-PhD candidate with a B.S. in Cellular and Developmental Biology and two minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. My standardized test scores were always strong: SAT 1550/1600, MCAT 41/45, and GMAT 780/800. Those scores are within the 99%-tile. Why is this important? As opposed to class tests where the teacher designs a class geared towards leading you to an answer, standardized tests are designed to trick you! I did well on these tests because I know how to avoid traps.... [more]
