I have taught classes in ACT math and have helped my students achieve their academic goals. Similar to SAT Math, my strategy for students is about thoroughly re-familiarizing students with all the math they learned over the past several years. Typically, we will go through an ACT book of problems and do several exercises together, inspiring dozens of those "Oh yeah!" moments. After each lesson, the student gets stronger in the material, and can feel it. I have been happily tutoring for over 15 years, and so I have learned to relate mathematical concepts to a wide variety of students. As f [more]

I am supremely qualified to tutor ACT Math. I have been tutoring ACT Math for over 5 years. I love teaching and tutoring for standardized exams as they are as much based on style and technique as knowledge and understanding. Passing on these secrets of great test-taking is a real joy! In addition to my love of teaching mathematics, I am skilled in test-taking myself. I was designated a National Merit Scholar as well as National AP Scholar as a high school senior. I received a perfect score of 800 on the SAT II Math exam, a 770 on the SAT I Math Exam, and perfect score of 5 on the AP Calculus [more]

My name is Andy, and I love math. I hold a BS and MS from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In high school, I competed in various prestigious math and science competitions. I have gotten 800s in SAT math I and II. Learn from the best! I am patient and have great ability to make difficult concepts easy to understand. Over the years I have developed various techniques on how to solve problems very quickly and accurately. When looking at a problem, there may be multiple ways to solve... [more]

If you were stranded on a deserted island, could you reinvent Algebra? Calculus? Trigonometry? I could! Not that that would be the most practical thing to do, but once you understand the basic concepts, you will be able to do the same. I am a strong believer in understanding concepts and knowing fundamentals, NOT in doing math by rote. I will certainly help you get your homework done and get better grades, but I will also make sure that you understand it! I teach students techniques... [more]

11 years experience; I've been tutoring since I was 18. Valedictorian St. Bonaventure High School. BS in Physics from University of Southern California. Master's Degree in Physics from University of Pittsburgh Now working as a theoretical physicist. My top priority is to give students a conceptual understanding of the material (as opposed to rote memorization). I do this by asking the student questions to gauge their understanding. Then I assign tailored problems (often that I make up ... [more]

I have taken a variety of math, English and science tests throughout school, in the military, in college, and to become a teacher. The tests have ranged from the SAT, CEEB, and CBEST, and I have developed methods and strategies to help my students become more successful while taking their tests. As an LAUSD high school math teacher, I taught algebra, and as an LAUSD high school science teacher I taught algebra, geometry and trigonometry to my students to help them do our activities, labs, problems, and science projects in our physics, chemistry, earth science, and biology classes. I have been doing the new ACT for a year and a half, including the Math section. I know the question style and topics covered I am certain I can help your son prepare. I have my own materials and know where to find others on the internet. I have helped over three dozen students improve their scores on the standardized tests and have worked with over 100 students thus far in my five years doing this job. I am a University of Massachusetts, Amherst graduate with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, where I also hold math and art minors. I then attended Vancouver Film School and have edited [more]

My goal is that my students enjoy learning and applying math in real life situations. I love teaching and learning from my students. The best reward is when I help students to gain confidence and improving their grades by learning and having fun with math. I have tutored for 8 years to students in middle school, high school and undergraduate students. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and sharing some tips to find easier ways to resolve math problems. I assure your children will show an improveme... [more]

I have been a math dept chair and have taught HS math for over 36 years. I have tutored students in ACT material for many years. I am quite good at all the mathematics in the ACT It is my real pleasure to provide this service to my clients who find I meet their need. It is my hope that I can truly get your son or daughter feeling successful and confident with high school math again within a few of our lessons. I focus immediately on what they need as I seek the questions they are dealing with and what it is they need to see and experience so we can get them back on that road of true unders [more]
