I am a math and science tutor with a high rate of success in improving my students' academic performance. I have a fresh, reliable approach to math and science education, based on identifying individual strengths and weaknesses and tailoring custom programs that make these concepts accessible. I have a degree in physics and I currently work as a control systems engineer. I have tutored high-school and undergraduate physics, chemistry, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, G... [more]

Ever since I was a little kid, I've always had a passion for learning. I graduated Magna cum Laude from the University of Maine with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a Mathematics minor. During that time, I was a private tutor and a TA in Chemistry. My areas of expertise are Algebra through Calculus II, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, SAT Math, and ACT Math/Science. I am willing to either be a tutor for a current class or teach a new subject. I'm usually available between 8 AM... [more]

I am NYS Mathematics (7-12), Business Education (1-12) and Social Studies (7-12) certified. I have taught these subjects at the middle school, high school and business college levels. When I took the ACT, I got a 34 out of 36 on the Math section (a 34 composite score). That score helped me get into Columbia University, where I majored in psychology. I have been tutoring for the ACT for the past five years and have helped my students achieve up to a 10 point increase in this section. My math action plan is tailor-made for every student, but I always make sure to review the concepts first before we talk strategy (although there are a couple of handy shortcuts to help with timing!). The ACT math section is a broad-ranging examination and includes topics from Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II/Trigonometry, and a small bit of Pre-Calculus. Though answering sixty questions in sixty minutes sounds like a daunting task, time can be managed more effectively on the ACT because of the test's ability to be manipulated, or "hacked." All diagrams on the ACT are drawn to scale, a calculator is allowed throughout the entire section, and all questions are multiple choice. For many of the questions it is possible (and even more efficient) to get the question correct using a particular te [more]

I'm a full-time high school science and math teacher and can help you or your child focus on test-taking strategies as well as solidifying understanding of the material itself. The math covered on the test isn't generally as challenging as some of the harder problems taught in school, but being able to work through the questions quickly is key. I find nothing more rewarding than helping students to deeply understand how things work and to watch them grow more and more confident in their own abilities. I am a full-time high school physics and engineering teacher, and the classroom setting allow [more]

I have taught in the school system and have tutored for the past 20 years. I have experienced first hand the frustration students have felt as they struggled with math. However, working in the school system I was limited in what I could do about this, so I decided that my talent was better served providing one-on-one tutoring. I tutor K-12 math and English. Math is my absolute favorite subject to tutor. I love watching a student go from struggling with math to achieving high marks. Many chil... [more]
