Teaching is my passion and my life's work. For more than 20 years I've had the thrill of helping young people master difficult subjects from HS science and math to college-level organic and medicinal chemistry. Seventeen of those years were spent teaching science (chemistry, AP Chemistry, biology, oceanography, and forensic science) at Gilmour Academy. I am now tutoring full time in the subject I love - Organic Chemistry! Working with students one-on-one allows me to tailor my approach to ... [more]

I am a PhD student studying Nuclear and Particle Physics at Carnegie Mellon University. I am passionate about inspiring students, especially young women, to feel confident in their mathematical and scientific abilities. While most of this confidence is gained through thoroughly learning the course material, I find it is equally important to understand how and when to ask for help with understanding. Trained primarily as a Supplemental Instructor for a college physics class at the University ... [more]

I have tutored many students in ACT Math. There is a lot of content to know, so an early start is always preferable. Most of my students were able to raise their scores. Those struggling with elementary math areas were those who had the most difficulty raising their scores. Students who practice on their own in addition to tutoring do the best. I currently tutor several different courses of high school and college math including Geometry, AP Statistics, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, College Algebra and Pre-Calculus. My students have maintained A or B averages throughout the year. I also tutored [more]

I LOVE science and math. I studied chemistry at Oberlin College, and then went on to earn both a Master's degree and PhD in physical chemistry (with an emphasis on quantum mechanics) from Yale University. After that, I taught chemistry at Southwestern University for two years. I recently moved to Pittsburgh, and am looking for a way to continue doing the work I love with students in a part-time capacity. In my many years as a tutor, teaching assistant, teaching fellow, and then professor, ... [more]

ACT Math tends to be less tricky than SAT Math as it mostly tests what a student has learned in school. I teach or reinforce the concepts first then I move on to time control and pacing because the test demands fast and accurate thinking. My approach has helped many students increase their scores on the ACT Math exam. Any educational problem can be fixed, no matter how hard it seems. There is hope. Above the level of hope is competence. I am referring here to the competence of a skilled tutor who has taken on hundreds of students over a fourteen-year period and turned each one of them int [more]

Hello, My name is Hemza, I obtained my Electrical Engineering at The Ohio State university in 2016, currently working in my industry with plans to pursue my MBA. I have a great deal of experience tutoring, mostly through tutoring fellow classmates in the subjects of Math and Science. I found it enjoyable helping others learn math and science; especially when they are finally able to solve a problem they struggled with, or understood how to simplify a math concept. My enthusiasm about tuto... [more]
