My best official ACT science score was a 36 on a test in which I scored a 35 composite. I have taken the test only twice, the first of which I scored a 33 composite. I understand very well exactly what the ACT science section tests on and what is needed to perform well on the test. I also have many ACT resources I would love to share with students to help them prepare. I received a B.S.E. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan's College of Engineering and currently work as a software developer for a trading company in Chicago. Throughout the past several years I have tutored many [more]

Hi! My name is Renee, and I am a current fourth year medical student at the University of Michigan. I've been tutoring in some capacity since I started high school, working with students of all ages. I worked as a Kumon tutor for four years (an afterschool tutoring program for students in elementary through high school) as well as a private tutor for many years after that. I've also tutored a great number of subjects, including math, English, chemistry, physics, etc. I love getting the op... [more]

I have been working as a substitute school employee for almost sixteen years. I enjoy working with youths of all ages. While I specialize in math and science, I am also a fairly accomplished writer. I have taught 1st grade math through 12th grade calculus, however I did not advance much beyond Calculus 2. I am fairly comfortable with single variable differentiation and integration, but my knowledge of multi-variable differential equations is limited. Typically when I teach and tutor... [more]

Hello my name is Emmanuel. I recently graduated with a bachelor?s degree in Electrical Engineering from UofM. In college I really appreciated the professors and teaching assistants that were interactive, concise, and comprehensible when going over material. I try to incorporate these aspects into my tutoring sessions so that the students can have a very positive learning experience. At UofM I was the part of the Academic Success Program within NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers). On... [more]

The essence of my teaching philosophy is to engage each and every student so that each ultimately attains a solid understanding of the course material. I strive to have every student develop the analytical and quantitative skills required to become successful practitioners of the subject matter taught. A key aspect of my teaching style is to clearly bridge from one concept to another while stressing connections between concepts and how a given concept embeds in a broader context. I also li... My approach to tutoring is to first determine where weaknesses in understanding exist, then to find ways to strengthen the student in those areas. Learning styles vary among students, so whenever possible, I try to match my tutoring methods to each student's strongest learning style. For example, one student may learn best by rote memorization and repetition drills. Another may thrive with analogies and mnemonics. A third student may need derivations from first principles or real life applica... [more]

I have been tutoring since I was in high school in the 1960s. I tutored throughout college. In my 35 years of public and private school teaching, I worked individually with my students before, during and after school. It was always my favorite part of teaching. I have recently retired and would like to help you understand math and/or physics so that you can learn to love it as much as I do. With my decades of experience, I am very good at making students feel comfortable with me. Because of... [more]

Hello, my name is Robert. I have been tutoring full time for about 5 years now and part time for about 15 years. I am capable of tutoring all high school math courses (including calculus) and some college level math courses. Most of my students I get through word of mouth but I also take students from Wyzant. In fact, I just recently updated my profile. I believe that each student is different when it comes to learning and I try to adjust my tutoring style to fit the student's needs. In... [more]

I love science, that is why I chose it as a career. I am familiar with the set of skills that are tested at the ACT Science exam, such as interpretation and analysis of paragraphs and data. As an international student teacher, I help students pass their Science ACT exam and also encourage them to learn to study not only for the exam but also for future careers in these areas. - Patient and professional science tutor - Experienced with students of all ages and learning styles - You will pass your test! :) And hopefully learn to love what you do. I am currently finishing my PhD in Biology, ha [more]

Science and math are pursuits of the unknown. Finding the question is the beginning of the path to understanding the solution. I have been teaching students math and sciences for over 10 years, and enjoy bringing insight of challenging material to an eager mind. Scientific investigations into unknown processes inspire my teaching of basic and advanced concepts to my students. I have taught classes at The University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, and Albion College including ch... [more]
