I have been tutoring students for the ACT for years. I focus on three things: review of concepts, teaching new information, and strategy. The way I execute my plans depends on a student's goals and timeline. On average, my students see a 15-20%+ bump in their score on the test and learn very useful test-taking strategies that can be applied to any sort of standardized test. My students' results after tutoring with me: Highest maintained overall grade: 97% Largest increase in overall grade: 20% Average increase in overall grade: 10.71% Largest increase in test score: 30% Average increase in te [more]

Hi! I am a recent graduate from Georgia Tech. My degree is in physics, however I am comfortable with all K-12 math. I have worked with both physics and math students for several years, concentrating at the middle and high school level with some college tutoring thrown in for good measure. I have also tutored elementary school children in all subjects. Watching the difference in my students when they grasp a new idea or method as their confidence grows is one of the most amazing things I hav... [more]

I have been tutoring for the ACT for the past six years, including the science section. I had success with my students increasing their ACT scores by the end of our sessions. I did incredibly well on the ACT and I think my method of practice will help you succeed! I am incredibly passionate about science, which can be seen in my teaching style. My method is to teach a certain problem and do an example and then to let the student try it with assistance. This way, they can learn techniques on how to do their problems on their own! [more]

The ACT Science section requires strong critical reading skills more than actual science knowledge (although there's some of that on the test too.) I work with my students on reading and scanning for details, sketching quick charts and graphs to keep track of information read and using deductive reasoning to answer the questions accurately and quickly for the best score possible. Anyone who tries to convince you that stellar test results are a result of natural genius is full of baloney. I know because I was once a crappy test-taker. I paid attention in class, did all my homework, and studi [more]

Over the past few years, I have helped numerous math students raise failing grades to A's, tackling everything from basic arithmetic to advanced calculus. Factoring problems? I'm your man. Don't understand congruence proofs? I can help. Over-intimidated by trigonometric identities? I've got you covered. I always try to help my students understand new concepts in terms of those with which they are already familiar. I patiently break down new formulas and processes until they look like familia... I have 5+ years of experience tutoring high school and college students in math and/or science. My favorite subjects to tutor include: statistics, chemistry, biology, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus! Additionally, I have experience tutoring all general subjects, test-prep (ACT, COMPASS, PSAT, SAT) and organization skills (5th grade through college). I practice the "I do, we do, you do" method while tutoring. Over the years, I have noticed most students I work with experience test an... [more]

I am a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I came to Georgia in the summer of 1995 to attend Clark Atlanta University. After graduation I returned home briefly but have been a Georgia resident since 2000. I began substituting and realized I really enjoyed the classroom. While obtaining my teacher certificate I worked at night in a Microbiology Lab. In my short eight years as a high school instructor I taught a wide range of subjects. They include Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, Human A... [more]

I received my Bachelor of Science from Cabrini College, with a concentration in Biotechnology in 2009. My coursework included a combination of biology and chemistry classes such as genetics, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry. Concurrently, I began tutoring a middle school student and continued up until graduation. I focused mainly on strengthening his math and science skills but also assisted with essays and projects in his non-science classes... [more]

I graduated with a BSc in Neuroscience from Emory University just over a year ago. In college, I realized that it was not necessarily the subjects that I was most interested in that made a lasting impact, but more so the courses I took that had phenomenal instructors! For instance, my Organic Chemistry professor made it a point to learn every students name and call on everyone at some point during the semester. He was engaging, easygoing, and passionate. I strive to mirror this level of enthu... [more]

I have previously tutored in ACT Science, helping students to see at least a 5 point increase in their scores. Hi! I've recently just returned from studying abroad in the UK at the University of Leeds and have previously tutored and mentored students during my 4 years of undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame. My best subject in my opinion is math even though both of my degrees are science related, and I really enjoy working with kids so please feel free to get in contact with me!... [more]
