I taught for Excel Edge, a company that trained teachers in Illinois and Indiana in the ACT Prep strategies for about 8 years. then our public high school asked me to help design an ACT Prep program. Several teachers in my building then began instructing ACT Prep once a week and continue to do so. I am presently working with junior students who requested specific teachers to help them after school to review ACT strategies and complete practice activities in, order for these students to improve their composite score. I continue to use ACT strategies each and every day in my teaching so to help [more]

I did my undergraduate studies at Dominican University, specifically in Chemistry and Biology. During my time there I had some initial experience with tutoring students in those subjects. I graduated in 2013 and went directly into my graduate studies. I did my graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma where I started as a PhD student in Organic Chemistry, specifically focusing on structure elucidation of small molecules using spectroscopy. I even earned candidacy for the doctorate. Dur... [more]

Are you looking for help in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus or Calculus? Let me help you master these subjects. I am an experienced college level tutor, with experience as a peer tutor at the College of DuPage. While there I helped many students achieve success in their courses. I believe that math is fun. One of the great difficulties many students face is the self fulfilling prophecy that I have always been poor at math and I will always be poor at math. The key to success is for the student to believe that they can become better at math. Therefore I have the student experience earned success in order to achieve some confidence. Constant failure is discouraging. I have taught for three years at the middle school level. I also have experience teaching ACT math... [more]

Before I decided to study International Relations and Business, I almost wanted to become a mad scientist. I took some physics in college but couldn't get up early enough for the Saturday morning labs (I had to work on Friday nights in college). I have taught at the college or university level for almost ten years now. I have a broad base of understandings and have taught classes from humanities to finance to economics to literature. I took college calculus and have above-average writing skills. I also have a series 7 license and feel comfortable tutoring for those exams. Both of my parents [more]

I have been tutoring ACT Math and Science for the past 4 years through Kaplan. I received a composite 30 score on my ACT scoring 32 in those areas. My first student raised her composite score by 4 points and other students have raised their score to equal to or better than their desired improvement. My general approach is to lead the student to the answer rather than giving them the answer. I will try multiple ways to get them on the right path. If there is a real struggle, I will work through the problem with them and other similar ones until they grasp the concepts needed. [more]
