The science portion of the ACT places an emphasis on short essay style presentations of subject matter relevant to the possible multiple choice responses. Students are tested not so much on knowledge that they have retained from previous coursework, rather they are tested on their ability to read critically and to extract the information necessary and relevant for an accurate response.
