The science section of the ACT primarily presents you with some graphs or charts along with a written explanation of how the data was obtained. It then asks you to read information from the graphs and make inferences and judgments about them. While you are not expected to be fully familiar with all the scientific concepts in these stories, you do need to be comfortable reading graphs and understanding what they mean. I have many innovative and effective strategies that will help you improve your comprehension of all kinds of graphs. Please let me use my AZ math teaching credential to help [more]

I was a National Merit Scholar in high school and graduated from ASU and the Barrett Honors College in 2000. As part of ACT seminars that I present to high school students on Saturday mornings, I help students understand the keys to the ACT Science test. I provide test-taking skills and work through sample problems with students. Because the ACT Science test is a very fast test, it is important to have a game plan, heading into it! I have always excelled in mathematics. I had good teachers in middle school and high school, and they laid a mathematics foundation that allowed me to score 780 on SAT Math and 790 on GRE Quantitative (maximum score was 800 when I took each test). I never lost points on ge [more]

The ACT Science section may, at first, seem overwhelming. I know from experience that you do not have to be a "science person" in order to get a great ACT Science score. I can teach you how to decipher the science passages, charts, and graphs more quickly and easily. Improving your score on ACT Science is less about deeply comprehending science topics and more about finding the data the questions ask for and analyzing the answer choices. A Smith College grad with 10+ years of experience, I have helped hundreds of students achieve some of the highest score increases nationwide. *Expert at gui [more]

I have a Ph.D. in Engineering from UC Berkeley and have been tutoring students since I was in graduate school. My approach to tutoring is based on first understanding the student's strengths and then building a bridge from those strengths to the area of study for tutoring. I draw upon my wide experiences to provide real-world examples that pertain the subject at hand to help the student make additional connections. My favorite part about tutoring is seeing the student have that "Ah Ha!" mo... [more]
