I am studying to be an actuary. I have passed exam P with an 8 and exam FM with a 9. I can tutor in either of these subjects. I would prefer to tutor exam P as it is more conceptual. My Motto: With each concept I did not know, there?s always a journey. Even if I don't know something, I will strive to learn it. This motto has proven to be very invaluable? even early on throughout high school as I received a full academic scholarship to a well respected and prestigious university. It's an important quality for someone to know a lot, but I find that the most important quality is an undying moti [more]

I have taught Probability & Statistics on a college level with applications to determine insurance rates and risks. My teaching included specific examples of relating flood insurance rates with the finished floor elevation of structures within a designated floodplain. The finished floor elevation was then compared to the base flood elevation (100-year storm event) to determine the risk. This risk is calculated using probabilities of occurrence and potential damage. The probability of a flood event was incorporated into the probability of a single, independent event occurring. Each flood e [more]

I have passed SOA (Society of Actuaries) Exam FM for Financial Mathematics, June 2012. I am currently preparing to sit for Exam P (Probability) projected exam date: March 18. I also prepared extensively for Exam MLC and sat for that examination in May of 2014 but unfortunately didn't pass that time. I tutored and graded all through college and found it to be rewarding. I really enjoy the "lightbulb" moment when something finally clicks (even if it's me!) I take the approach that helping my clients build confidence with a subject they struggle with tends to have a ripple effect which helps [more]
