I have 5 years of experience working as an actuary in both insurance and consulting. I am an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, meaning I have passed all the preliminary actuarial exams. Hi, I thought I'd provide some history about why I started tutoring with this website. A good portion of my part-time job income during college came from tutoring for introductory math and economics classes. After college, where I graduated with a Mathematics/Economics major, I started working as an actuary. A lot of my actuarial work included developing complex mathematical models for insurance, th [more]

I successfully completed exams 100 and 110 a number of years ago and these have been converted to credit for COURSE1 which gives me a conversion credit for exam P. Exam P is the very first exam and covers probability. So, based on the fact I have passed exams 100 and 110, and those convert to Exam P, I should be able to help people with exam P. Exam P is only the first exam in the list of requirements given by the Society of Actuaries for certification. I like to tutor students taking statistics classes in research methods. I enjoy the challenge and application of this knowledge. But ever [more]

I've passed exams P/1, FM/2, and MLC. I passed P/1 with a score of 10 (highest score possible). I love math. I love teaching it. I find it intrinsically satisfying to see the light come on in a student's eyes. My first math lesson that I taught was when I was 5. My neighbor, still in diapers, kept skipping 4 when counting from 1 to 10. I worked with him until he could get all 10 numbers in a row, and match them up with his fingers. My students drastically improve under my tutelage, generally seeing a two grade level improvement (F to C, C to A, for example), and all of them get ... [more]
