Web Design/Photoshop/Multimedia Design Tutor

Adobe InDesign has been used in my classroom in a multitude of ways. It's been the centerpiece in any multipaged project my students create, whether it's a brochure, a menu, a catalog or a magazine layout. In the 12 plus years that I've used this desktop publishing tool I've seen it evolve from a static tool to a robust rich media creator. I am now teaching individuals how to use InDesign to develop apps for tablets and smart phones. My aim is to help individuals with ideas develop the skill to bring them to life independently. I received my Masters in Graphic Design. The first assignment was to think of a business name and create a logo using Adobe Illustrator. Once that logo was finalized, students would be able to place that logo into InDesign and create a menu. Most menus had a title on the left and a price on the right. This is accomplished using tab leaders. These tab leaders help the viewer navigate and easily read across the page. InDesign is also a great tool to set and edit type. InDesign is a step up and away from Microsoft Word and it can help students design better-looking documents for presentations. [more]

As part of the graphic design curriculum, Adobe InDesign is a key course in my software instructions. As an adjunct instructor, I favor InDesign is an integral part of the Creative Cloud software design package. I used design examples, with how to steps, to arrive at the completed project.
