I am a Connecticut certified teacher and have taught and tutored algebra for the past six years. At Bedford Middle School I successfully taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders algebra and math study skills. I have also tutored high school students in algebra 1 for the past 6 years. One of my strengths is that I can always find another way to explain math concepts if my student is having trouble with the way I explain something. Because math is concrete and conceptual at the same time, there are many ways to delve into concepts of algebra, thus many ways to trigger understanding. [more]

I have recently finished my Bachelor's degree in physics at WPI. I have been a lab instructor and grader, and grader and tutor for college freshman and sophomore level physics courses (I explain this in more detail below). Through that, I have need [more]

My goal for every student, in every lesson, is to help you understand a specific Algebra 1 subject so well, that if your teacher were absent tomorrow, that you could stand up in front of the class, and explain the topic so well that all of your classmates would understand completely. If I fail to do that by the end of the first session, you don't have to pay. Is your child having difficulty with Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry or Pre-Calculus? Do you dread the day your child will ask for your help with their math homework? Does your child need to increase their SAT math score and feel more [more]

After retiring as a NASA Aerospace Engineer, I have enjoyed a fifteen year encore career teaching math in a five star rated blue ribbon high school in New York City. Although teaching has been a departure from my engineering career, it has been extremely rewarding. For four consecutive years, I have attained a state rating as a "highly effective teacher" of Common Core Algebra I. In addition to teaching six classes each day, teachers in our high school are required to tutor students on a one-on-one basis in one hour sessions every day. This has been a very fulfilling teaching opportunity [more]
