During the past few summers I have been teaching Algebra I remediation at the Army and Navy Academy. I am very familiar with the topics that students have trouble with. I have been teaching Physics for the past 5 years and I truly love it. Before that, I tutored it for 4 years. In college I chose Physics as my major because I enjoyed it and it made sense to me. I decided to tutor it because I wanted others to see the same things. My goal, still, is to show my students that Physics is not hard and can be fun to learn. I have taught at large public schools and small private ones. I am not [more]

I'm a college professor with 25+ years of experience teaching mathematics and computer programming. My favorite subjects include precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, optimization and numerical analysis. I believe the only way to learn mathematics or computer programming is by working through many exercises and problems. There's no way around this. It doesn't matter how well a lecture is presented or how good the teacher is. If you don't do the work yourself, you'll probably not succeed. ... [more]

Algebra 1 builds on the concepts studied and practiced in pre-algebra. I can help you understand the concepts, so that you can complete math problems on your own. I am a UCLA graduate with a BA in economics, and I have 8 years of experience in math education on the following subjects: elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, and pre-calculus. I work through online platforms with students whose needs range from tutoring just one hour a week to teaching them an entire math curriculum. MY FOCUS AS YOUR TUTOR: 1. Mastery-address challenges from class and clarify concepts you are cu [more]

I have been tutoring in an official capacity for almost six years. I was the "go-to guy" among my school friends for math help! I started out volunteering at Oceanside High School, helping out students struggling with math. Over the past six years, I've been taking private clients. I have tutoring experience with geometry honors, algebra I and II honors, statistics, business math, SAT math, and the CAHSEE. I've also worked as a tutor for Claire Burgener (an independent study school in Ocea... [more]

Hi There I have been tutoring for 15 years. I started off working with a program called study buddies all throughout my high school years. As a college student, I helped my peers edit their essays, and finally, as a teaching associate, I began teaching and tutoring college students in history classes. I am a certified social science teacher that works half time. I currently tutor 2 6th grade boys who go to the school I work at and I'm looking for another student to work with! Although I... [more]

I use these tools daily: determining what I am spending at the grocery store or might need later for gas; making predictions from sets of data in the chemistry lab; and predicting costs of an operation. The Michigan State Teachers Education courses I completed showed me better ways to present algebra to students that need a different approach. I struggled in high school understanding these concepts, so I can really identify with those that are also having a difficult time. I think I can change your algebra experience to complete success! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. I taught high school algebra for over two years. I also taught basic college Algebra for two semesters. Since I faced enormous challenges myself in going through college mathematics, my tutoring method caters to struggling students. Like most students, I have gone through the challenges of mathematics from basic education that got harder and harder (or harsher and harsher, if you may) as I got to graduate school. Even with my current work that uses some math, sometimes I still struggle with difficult math problems that confront me. But with diligence [more]
