Hello! I am Kim...and a former elementary and middle school teacher with 20+ years of classroom and tutoring experience. During this time I have seen many students struggle for various reasons. Sometimes they simply needed extra help getting over a tough concept or a boost of confidence in their ability to understand. Sometimes they lost traction long ago and feel totally hopeless. Often when students fall behind in studies their next step is to "shut down" in the classroom. Kids g... [more]

I am KY and TN state certified in middle school math. I taught developmental math and college math at two year colleges. I served as the math lab coordinator at Austin Peay State University for two years. I tutor Algebra most every day. I tutor middle and high school students who are challenged by the Algebra coursework. I coach future college students who need assistance on the math sections of the ACT and SAT. And I prep future nursing students who need to review math coursework for the TEAS, NLN-PAX, Kaplan, and HESI to gain admission into nursing school. I'm great at explaining basic Al [more]

I've taught middle-school and high-school math in public schools, but I've been tutoring off and on for the last few years, and I enjoy tutoring more than standing in front of a class. Every student is different, and working one-on-one, I can both tell what an individual student needs and adopt my approach to them far more than with a group. I've always found it very rewarding to help young people learn anything that I think is worthwhile, and, in my opinion, very few things are more worthwh... [more]

I have taught pre-algebra to middle schoolers for 15 years. This prepared my students for success in Algebra 1. I know what foundational skills are important to master prior to Algebra 1. I am a middle school math teacher with 29 years of experience. I currently teach math and pre-algebra to students who are below grade level. In the past, I have taught general math and pre-algebra to middle school students. In my current position, I am teaching to students who need to "catch up" and get closer to or on grade level. I enjoy making math relevant in their lives and showing them the connec [more]

I moved to the states from China in 2008, and proudly became a U.S. Citizen five years later. With my strong math education background in my original country, I wanted to become a math instructor in this new-to-me country, so I've been spending almost six years to equip myself with math related teaching skills. I've earned my AS degree at ECTC, a BA degree at WKU, and am expecting an MS degree from WKU in May 2015. While seeking the degrees, I also take any opportunity to tutor or teach m... [more]

I was a certified mathematics teacher when I chose to leave the profession to further my accounting/mathematical acumen in areas ranging from accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, taxes to general business financial management. I have my own accounting firm and have thoroughly enjoyed the interactive transactions with the clients. After doing some additional tutoring recently, I am excited about growing this endeavor. As a former math teacher with over 30 years of business experience, I... [more]

Hi there! I'm Matt. I'm a Data Science Master's student with a BA in Computer Science. I don't have much direct paid tutoring experience but I've put together my fair share of study guides and helped a number of students out in an informal manner. I like working with people to help them understand concepts that they struggle with and getting them to a point of self-sufficiency. While I have a lot of experience with undergraduate level math, not all of it came easily and I understand that w... [more]

Algebra is one of the subjects where students often get confused and discouraged. I believe that many of the difficulties are overcome by careful attention to the steps and showing all all of your work. There is a symmetry and pattern to algebra that can be very helpful. I believe that many students who struggle with algebra don't realize that they already intuitively know much of it, but are not able to recognize what they know, because it is written in a "language" that is unfamiliar to them. I can help them to become more comfortable with this new "language" that is the leap from the famili [more]
