I have six years experience teaching high school math. Since staying home to raise my own children I have tutored half a dozen students in math -- half of these in Algebra 2. I have also spent the last three years substitute teaching preschool through high school. We have just moved back to Hawaii and I plan on going back to teaching high school math, but thought I would start substitute teaching and then I saw the advertisement for a tutor needed in Algebra 2 in Mililani which seemed perf... Algebra, one of the fundamental areas of mathematics, is a logic system that uses symbols to represent relationships between quantities. It is used to solve all sorts of problems, from accounting to manufacturing. Algebra topics that I tutor include nomenclature, inequalities, word problems, quadratics, substitutions, rational expressions and equations, systems of equations, and many more, as well as all related and prerequisite concepts. I have tutored many students in Algebra over the past several years. [more]

I've tutored students from grade school to college levels, up to and including Calculus II and College Physics. Whether I am working with fellow students at Penn State's Learning Center or students at home, my passion for education comes through in my teaching methods, as I believe that all students have the ability to learn a subject as long as it is presented to them in a manner they are able to grasp. I use both analytical as well as graphical methods as needed to cater to each student. Ha... [more]

For as long as I can remember, I've loved teaching. After returning to the U.S., I spent two years teaching "behind the scenes" as an author and editor of online accounting homework problems for Aplia (part of Cengage Learning). I now spend most of my days offering standardized t... [more]

Graduated from a great university in a highly math and science focused major with a great GPA. My passion for teaching others comes from my own learning experiences, and the great teachers I personally had throughout my education. In sophomore year of high school, I struggled with my honors chemistry class. I was not aware of how difficult a class like that can be, especially for someone like me who had not taken chemistry before. I failed my first exam horribly, despite feeling okay about it after taking it. Having never failed an exam before, I wanted to change classes. However, my t... [more]
