I have taught Mathematics and Statistics to graduate and undergraduate students at the University level since 2006. I am a passionate advocate for my students as my only concern is furthering the student's knowledge and education. I have Master's Degrees in Applied Statistics (Penn State) and Management Information Systems (UW-Milwaukee), and a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics (UW-Madison). Additionally, my professional background includes several analytical roles in Fortune 100 companies tha... [more]

My favorite thing about tutoring is that I can give students a second chance in subjects that they are struggling in. As an honors and AP student, I understand the effort and the ambition it takes to succeed high grades. For the past 5 years, I have been a volunteer tutor at a high school helping students raise their failing marks. In addition, for the past 2 years, I have been a Team Leader for Before and After School Care at an elementary school, and my main job is to offer homework assista... [more]

Hello! My name is Jennifer, and I am a private teacher. I prefer to think of myself as a teacher rather than a tutor for several reasons. First and foremost, my training is in education. I hold a Masters degree in Elementary Education, with a math minor, and am certified in Wisconsin to teach grades 1-8. Secondly, I focus on making sure my students truly understand what it is they are studying. I am not interested in helping you cram for a test. I am interested in making sure you are truly un... Algebra is the foundation for any mathematical level above it.We expand, we simplify, we solve. We begin to recognize techniques that help us simplify by combining like terms (and knowing how they're alike!) and using order of operations. The all-important part is solving X, and knowing how to do so. In Algebra I we explore problem solving, inequalities & absolute values, linear equations/ slope, systems of equations, laws of logs & exponents, rationals, quadratics, and radicals. I received an A in Algebra 1 as well as additional tutoring/assisting my peers throughout high school as well as [more]

I feel fortunate to say that math has always been a subject that I have enjoyed. Math was my favorite subject all the way from 1st grade up through my college years. I have a lot of experience helping other students with math - both through working in the Academic Support Center at Gateway Tech College, but also through several Wyzant tutoring sessions. When helping others I break the problems down into their fundamental parts, and give the student confidence that they can do the problems when I show them the repeatable step by step process they can use to solve virtually any math problem!
