I tutored after school for my last two years in High School. While I was attending University of Central Florida, I also did online tutoring specifically for math subjects. I know that I can teach this difficult subject in the simplest ways. Everyone I have helped told me they were surprised at how easy it is once I explain it to them. I love that I am able to teach a subject that seems difficult to most. I really want to get back into tutoring partly because I know the best way to lea... [more]

Algebra is the basis of all symbolic variable mathematics, in which the exact value of one or more unknown quantities is obtained by logical, methodical manipulation of known relationships. Algebra 1 introduces the rules governing this manipulation, as well as other mathematical ideas you may not have seen yet. (Turns out you CAN take the square root of a negative number!) On a personal note: believe it or not, I didn't think I was very good at math until I took algebra in the eighth grade. Perhaps you, too, have found math up to this point pointless and boring--how many times must one regur [more]

I spent 12 years teaching in the CCSD. I taught Middle School (8th grade) Algebra and Pre Algebra. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics in addition to the Education courses required for certification. I also taught at the high school level. Middle school can be a challenging time for students, and I feel I developed a variety of teaching modalities to reach students regardless of their ability level I spent 12 years teaching in the CCSD. I am a Career Program Manager with over 25 years experience at large Aerospace Companies including General Electric Company and United Technologies Corporation. My desire now is to help high school and college students achieve improvement in mathematics, business and finance and computer programming grades. My approach is to review the students study material before meeting and then determine areas of weakness that can be strengthened by tutoring. I am experienced in subjects related to E... [more]

I applied for the academy of Math, Science, and Engineering when I went to high school, and in college, I held a science major before switching to Liberal Studies to become an educator. I also take time in the day to answer other students' mathematical questions in the resources section of WyzAnt. I have graduated college with a degree in Liberal Studies, which gives me a wide breadth of topics that I have learned about, from arithmetic to theater. I have been certified with a 30-day emergency substitute teacher credential and taken many post-graduate courses towards elementary teaching. I h [more]

My name is Jerry and I've been tutoring all levels of HS and college Math and Physics for the past 7 years. I enjoy helping students, and my students like the way I explain hard to understand concepts in Math and Physics. I believe in a "simplistic" approach to teaching Math and Physics. I strive to teach Math and Physics without a lot of theoretical jargon and I teach a methodical approach to solving problems. While at the University of Arizona, I majored in Nuclear Engineering; I have a... [more]

Students will be able to: 1. Apply the rules of signed numbers, the order of operations agreement, and the rules for evaluating and simplifying algebraic expressions in order to have the basic skills necessary for successful completion of the other topics in this course. 2. Solve first degree equations and inequalities in one variable in order to solve problems that can be modeled by these types of relationships. 3. Plot points and graph linear equations on a rectangular coordinate system in order to use these skills to solve related problems in this and related courses. 4. Determine th [more]

I have always excelled in math. Not just because I was good at it but also because I enjoy it. I find math to be challenging as well as interesting. Algebra 1 is necessary to move forward in high school as well as college. Once you capture the understanding of Algebra 1, much of the following math courses become easier to tackle. I can help you to understand the math required of you. After becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) on a cardiac telemetry unit in 1992, I continued my education attaining my Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Nursing and subsequently my Master's degree as a Nurse [more]

Hello, everyone! I'd love to help you in the areas you are struggling with! I recently graduated with my Ph.D. in Microbiology from UNLV. I have a combined 7 years of experience teaching undergraduates microbiology and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. My Ph.D. focused on molecular biology, microbiology, and biochemistry, and so I have particular expertise in these areas. At the end of my degree, I also ended up with several hundred written pages, including my dissertation and fo... [more]

Hi, I'm Jason! I am an undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) majoring in Business Administration, with an emphasis on Information Management. I graduated from Northwest Career and Technical Academy with an Advanced Honors Diploma, specializing in Engineering and Design. Whether you compete in a sport, play an instrument, or try to perfect cooking a meal, practice is everything. I find it incredibly valuable to engage hands-on with any material that I am learning ...
