Algebra 1 introduces the concept of symbolic representation of numbers whose value is unspecified, and also the basic notion of relations between sets of numbers specified by a recipe called a "function." Operations upon and between functions provide a basis for discovering important properties of relations, properties of number sets, and methods of representation. The axioms and common understandings of Algebra 1 are common to all other algebras, such as vector algebra, and are therefore the essential foundation for all further study in mathematics. [more]

I love algebra. Algebra is the basis of all higher-level mathematics, and I absolutely love helping students develop the same passion for algebra that I have. I can teach students the equivalent of a full year of a rigorous algebra high school curriculum. I have my own textbooks, worksheets, tests, and assessments so I make sure you master all of the skills you need to succeed in this crucial subject. There is no need for you to purchase additional expensive curriculum materials, because I can provide you with the supplementary materials you need. Our tutoring sessions can help you get [more]

I have taught algebraic concepts as a certified, experienced teacher. I received a perfect 800 on my SAT math. I have tutored several students on either the Math SAT or the Math GRE. I completed AP BC Calculus in high school and was an active member in my high school's math club for 4 years. I received the highest score on the AMC 12 during my senior year of high school. The beauty of algebra is the logic and rules required for solving equations. The study of algebra also teaches one to identify patterns as well as solidify their skills in basic arithmetic. I love teaching students to enjo [more]

I have taught Algebra 1 in the Cambridge Public Schools, and tutored Algebra 1 to students at Cambridge Rindge and Latin and other area high schools. I enjoy working with students who are struggling with the material as well as those seeking to accelerate their mathematics education. Welcome! I have been tutoring and teaching for over 30 years, beginning with Algebra and Geometry and as an IEP tutor in Brookline. As an undergraduate at the University of Chicago I graded Calculus and tutored in both the mathematics and computer science departments. In graduate school at Harvard I taught an un [more]

I specialize in rigorous, high-level academic tutoring, test preparation, and enrichment for high school, college, and graduate students. I have ten years and thousands of hours of experience with students around the world. BIO: I studied theoretical math, literature, and philosophy at MIT and Harvard. My interests span the sciences and humanities. I've done labwork in molecular biology, biomedical engineering, cognitive neuroscience, and natural language processing at NASA, Memorial Sloan-K... I started Algebra when I was in 3rd grade and I've always had a knack for it. Whenever I tutor students in higher level Math the first thing I always gauge is their grasp of Algebra techniques. Therefore I would say that I have more experience tutoring Algebra than any of my other subjects. In 4 years of High School, 4 years of College, and 2 years of Graduate School, I learned innumerable things about a wide variety of topics, but the most important lesson I learned was this: the students who get A's are not necessarily the most naturally gifted in the class, but are the almost always the har [more]

I specialize in tutoring math subjects for students in high school and college (Math majors highly welcomed!). I have tutored math since taking calculus when I began holding after-school sessions with groups of my peers. I have experience tutoring a wide array of subjects in math: from prealgebra to precalcul... [more]

I helped many students in Algebra 1 in my high school and college years. I always loved studying mathematics and helping others make significant progress in it. Many of my skills come from my participation in several mathematics Olympiads. I minored in math and physics in college. I also have a Master's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. I graduated from University of Massachusetts Boston with an M.Ed. in LTET in 2012. I have heard many times how many in America are struggling in mathematics, a subject that I consider to be extremely important, and a lot of fun. In late middle school [more]

I will help my students learn how to solve problems, not just memorize facts and figures. Starting with an assessment of your current strengths and areas for improvement, I will put together a plan to improve your academic performance in the physical sciences or mathematics. My goal is to see you reach a personal "Aha! moment" during each session. I have spent eleven years teaching Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics (including Calculus-based AP Physics) to high school students. I have also... [more]
