I have worked with both students who struggle with the subject and those who excel. I show students how to approach algebra as a problem solving process, as appropriate, to accelerate learning. By focusing on applications and problem solving I help students to see why Algebra is important. I utilize online learning tools to provide practice and assessment. Hi. I have over 15 years of experience. Algebra is my specialty! I have been tutoring/teaching students math for the past 15 years. I have taught elementary through Calculus II math. I enjoy the one-on-one tutoring and love to help people succeed. I try to make it fun and get to know how the person learns. I try to find out their interests to relate the problems to what they enjoy. Most word problems will start with their name. I try to explain concepts and ensure that they know how to solve the problems. When studying for tests, I try to cover a... [more]

I am an attorney (JAG Corps) by profession but am a teacher at heart. I have always been curious-minded and that thirst for knowledge promoted my academic success and current profession. Coming from a disadvantaged background, I suspect my learning journey was a bit harder than it might have been without a few teachers and professors who went that extra mile or somehow nurtured that spark - and that really made a difference for me! I hope to be that kind of difference for someone. So, whe... [more]

Dear Parents and Students, Algebra 1 is the cornerstone for higher mathematics. It involves the concepts of prealgebra as well as many new concepts. It can feel almost overwhelming in trying to master these skills. Oftentimes, one concept is quickly introduced after another. I go over each concept and progress at the rate of the student. Sometimes just repeating the exercises in a slightly different way is all that is necessary for success. Some of the students have raised their grade two levels. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to tutor your child. [more]

As Math Resource Teacher for 2 years, I tutored students who are challenged in Algebra so they can pass the SOL. The key to learning at this level is a strong foundation in Basic Math. Reading and comprehension skills also support success at this level. Showing examples and working hands on is one of the best approaches to mastery. I am a teacher, researcher, counselor, and a nurse. I love to do and teach research/thesis/dissertation writing. In my career, I have advised, coached, and graduated students in college and post graduate level. I can work with you with research format, writing [more]
