Learning should be fun, empowering and exciting. I am an author, a professor, and a very experienced designer, programmer and media producer with a passion for teaching, learning, innovation and education. I go beyond teaching the fundamental concepts, and add a deep understanding of what they are for, how they are used, and where they all fit together. I believe that enthusiasm, dreams and accomplishment are the best motivators for education. I teach through a combination of traditional sk... [more]

Teaching and tutoring algebra is a great love of mine. I have taught algebra at the university level for over 3 years, and tutored algebra for a number of companies and independently for over 5 years. I genuinely relish each opportunity. Algebra is one of the most captivating subjects in math because it is the first real journey into abstract mathematics beyond calculations and basic tips & tricks. Observing a student really grasp algebra is as rewarding an experience a tutor or teacher can ever have. I have a BA from UC Berkeley in Political Science and an MS from Cal State Channel Island [more]

If you were stranded on a deserted island, could you reinvent Algebra? Calculus? Trigonometry? I could! Not that that would be the most practical thing to do, but once you understand the basic concepts, you will be able to do the same. I am a strong believer in understanding concepts and knowing fundamentals, NOT in doing math by rote. I will certainly help you get your homework done and get better grades, but I will also make sure that you understand it! I teach students techniques... [more]

TEST PREPARATION I graduated in 2013 from the University of Southern California with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy. I have just graduated from Georgetown Law School, and am now preparing for the Bar Exam. I have received top-percentile scores on the SAT, the GRE, and the LSAT. For the past several years, I have honed my skills of teaching these tests to others, and I have helped many students, both on and off of WyzAnt, to succeed on their standardized tests. Be forewarn... [more]

Algebra 1 was the first subject I tutored, 17 years ago. I still enjoy helping understand the language of algebra. Because, that is what algebra is, a new language of mathematics. This is why it can be so scary. I have tutored algebra for 17 years, 12 as a tutor for local colleges and privately, 5 years as a teacher. With all of my experience I have not lost my enthusiasm for teaching, nor my understanding of difficulties in this first foray into modern mathematics. I hope that you can learn a little of my love of it as well. [more]

My approach to tutoring is informed by my past academic struggles. When I was a freshman at Princeton, I quickly realized that my high school, located in an economically depressed area in south Texas, had not adequately prepared me for the diverse range of college coursework. Having had to overcome that, I know the frustration and self-defeating strategies--like procrastination--that students often develop and I am especially sensitive to supporting my students. Sometimes that means being ... [more]

Currently I am a teacher of Chemistry and Physics at a CA High School. Previously I have been an educational professional for 40 years, starting as a teacher of Math and Physics in High school to AP/1st year undergraduate level and I hold teaching credentials in both California and the UK. Later I taught Chemistry (the subject of my degree) to the same standard. I have many former students who have studied at the top UK Universities; Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham, Imperial London and so ... [more]

My name is Nicholas R. I am currently mathematics undergraduate at UC Santa Cruz. I have taken high level math courses up to vector calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations. In the past, I have been an AVID tutor at a High School. There I helped students in algebra 2 and precalculus. I also have experience with one one one tutoring. My name is Ethan, and I'm currently enrolled at UCSB. I have always had a knack for mathematics; the concepts presented in these classes generally come easily to me. I graduated from Foothill Technology High School in 2016 as Magna Cum Laude with a 4.2 GPA and a Silver Award for 70+ community service hours. While there in my senior year, I spent several hours a week volunteering as a peer tutor in the library, assisting other students mainly in the maths. The subjects I helped most with were... [more]
