I find the best way to teach Algebra is to link the so-called new skills to prior knowledge. Most of algebraic thinking involves the extension of the basic four operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, to variables. By linking the use of variables to the basic arithmetic skills I find that I can eliminate the mystery and challenge of Algebra and I can encourage each student to teach himself or herself. This student-centered approach is very effective since it also builds student confidence. [more]

As a former educator, I have professional experience teaching and facilitating the learning process as it relates to Algebra. As a tutor, I have integrated both my in-classroom experience and my test taking skill set to a one-on-one environment. This allows students to better comprehend information, as well as curtailing my teaching style to the students learning style and detailing assessment of their challenges. I have a proven track record of students increasing test scores and subject grades, but most importantly a better overall understanding of the subject area. [more]
