This is my most favorite subject to tutor; learning the language of math! How to express words in variables, solve and graph linear equations, factor polynomials and understand functions -- they are all part of this course. My students have gone from failing to at least passing when I work weekly with them on building their math skills. Practice, practice, practice -- it's the name of the math game! Math is my passion! I believe that experiencing frustration over math is just not necessary in today's world. With all of the resources available to students, sometimes knowing where to start is to [more]

I have a Harvard B.A. and U.C. Berkeley Ph.D. in Chemistry. I have over 30 years experience teaching chemistry: high school AP chem and college freshman chem. My first teaching position was at Harvard in 1987. I believe that every student I teach I is a unique learner. When I tutor, I focus on YOUR learning style, YOUR knowledge, and YOUR problem solving skills. I do not lecture at students. Students learn best by doing: solving problems, asking questions, explaining answers, teaching ea... [more]

Algebra is my favorite subject! I love the way it works logically and makes sense and I love helping people gain both competence and confidence in the subject. I offer individualized help to assist students in targeting their weaknesses and shoring up their mathematical foundations. I am excellent at explaining the subject in an understandable way. I am non-judgmental and meet each individual where they are academically and help them improve from there. I am a credentialed teacher with over 20 years of experience in the educational community. I have worked with students of all ages in both cl [more]

I have been teaching Algebra 1 to adults for about 20 years. Just this week, I ran into one of my former students who needed to pass her teaching assistant credential. Not only did she pass, but she felt confident to then help others to pass with what she learned from me. I am confident I can help you too. I was an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh in Rhetoric and Communications with a minor in English, then EdM from Harvard's School of Education. My students will tell you there's no way I could be a math teacher because "they just get it" whe... [more]

I have taken AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC in high school and received 5's (the highest possible score) on both AP examinations. Calculus is very heavily algebra-based, so I believe my strong background in algebra allowed me to succeed in these courses. I have also tutored several students in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-Calculus. In addition, I have also taken Physics in high school as well as at the University of the Pacific, where I received A's at both schools. My experiences in a college-level physics course only further my ability to tutor and help other students succeed [more]
