In 2002 I became a Math Tutor at (TUSD's) Palo Verde High School, where algebra and geometry were taught to Freshmen and Sophomores. As I transitioned into my college years, I began tutoring some friends and colleagues algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-algebra, and pre-calculus in order for them to succeed in their courses. Each individual who has been tutored by me has improved their grades tremendously. Due to this outcome, I decided to obtain a minor in Mathematics and I earned the degree in 2010. [more]

In high school I was taking college level math as a senior and was very successful in all of my math classes throughout my high school career. On many different occasions, I tutored close family friends in subjects including geometry, algebra and pre-calculus. These experiences and love of math are what I think could make me a great Algebra I tutor for students in need of help. My name is Amarachi, and I go by Amara. I am a current student at the University of Arizona studying Physiology with a minor in Religious Studies, and I hope to eventually add a minor in either Psychology or Sociology. [more]

I am currently a junior studying mechanical engineering at the University of Arizona. I use math and science all day, every day, which I love! Math and science are my strongest subjects and my favorite ones too! I can help students with any level of math up through Calculus 2. And with science, I am able to provide tutoring for physics, high school biology classes, and basic chemistry. Additionally, I am available to provide ACT preparation tutoring as I scored a 34 on the ACT and have experi... [more]

I have 10 years experience teaching middle school students algebraic concepts. I have been teaching mathematics (in public schools) for the past 15 years. I love to teach students why math is important and how it will affect (in a positive way) the rest of their lives. I especially love tutoring math students one-on-one, because it allows me the ability to form a personal relationship as well as an academic connection. I can teach and motivate any child into loving mathematics. I have tutored many students throughout my career and my greatest accomplishment is hearing a... [more]

I am an avid teacher of mathematics, particularly algebra. I believe the abstract problem solving nature of algebra is a vehicle for critical thinking that transcends all other subjects. It communicates the idea that symbols such as x and y stand for numbers that vary and can be used to find missing pieces of a mathematical or a real-life puzzle. Algebra helps students to visualize and grapple with complicated concepts and relationships. It stimulates brain development and helps students to think in new ways. Reasoning symbolically facilitates problem solving of increasing complexity. The foun [more]
