I've privately tutored for over 10+ years. I've tutored numerous students in Pre Algebra, Algebra 1/2, and SAT Math. Having had tutors throughout my academic career, I understand the huge impact a tutor can make in a student's life. A great tutor not only helps a student feel more CONFIDENT about their study habits, but also challenges them to CONTINUE LEARNING about subjects that interest them. I'm MEL and I'd love to work with you and your family! I have over 10+ YEARS of private TUTORING EXPERIENCE in subjects such as MATH, ENGLISH, STUDY SKILLS, and SAT and ACT TEST PREP from PRE-K throug [more]

The ability to approach a problem through different methods is the key for success in any math-based subject. During the two years and a half that I've tutored as a volunteer at my community college (under a MESA program), I learned a lot from the inquiries that college students had and, as a consequence, from my mistakes as well. I realized that the processes taught by their professors more frequently confused most of the students in science classes--such as physics, math, and chemistry. As ... [more]

Currently I am a teacher of Chemistry and Physics at a CA High School. Previously I have been an educational professional for 40 years, starting as a teacher of Math and Physics in High school to AP/1st year undergraduate level and I hold teaching credentials in both California and the UK. Later I taught Chemistry (the subject of my degree) to the same standard. I have many former students who have studied at the top UK Universities; Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Durham, Imperial London and so ... [more]

I have taken the equivalent of six years of math in high school, five semesters of calculus in undergraduate studies (plus one semester linear algebra and one semester of statistics), and one year of statistics in graduate school. I have taught an undergraduate statistics lab as a graduate student and currently incorporate teaching statistics into an undergraduate neuroscience lab course. I also teach mathematics (arithmetic, pre-algebra) to my oldest son in a homeschool environment. I have a Ph.D. in Behavioral Neuroscience/Biopsychology, as well as a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Teaching requires patience and understanding of a learner's needs, current abilities and potential. Over the course of 30 years I have helped my siblings, friends and children with various educational and learning challenges. I believe that every person has the ability to learn when they are in an environment of patience and understanding. I offer a wide range of subjects from elementary Math, English (for speakers and non-speakers), business management, finance economics and accounting. M... [more]

Hello! My name is Jason, I'm a senior in mechanical engineering at Stanford University. As a tutor, I want to help you worry less about the topics that are giving you trouble. I will do everything I can to help you excel - with less stress! Fundamentally, I believe building your understanding of the material is the best way to both build your confidence (and therefore stress less!), and allow you to excel. "Improving understanding" might sound really obvious as an approach, but the truth i... [more]

My name is Ethan, and I'm currently enrolled at UCSB. I have always had a knack for mathematics; the concepts presented in these classes generally come easily to me. I graduated from Foothill Technology High School in 2016 as Magna Cum Laude with a 4.2 GPA and a Silver Award for 70+ community service hours. While there in my senior year, I spent several hours a week volunteering as a peer tutor in the library, assisting other students mainly in the maths. The subjects I helped most with were... [more]

Algebra 1 was the first subject I tutored, 17 years ago. I still enjoy helping understand the language of algebra. Because, that is what algebra is, a new language of mathematics. This is why it can be so scary. I have tutored algebra for 17 years, 12 as a tutor for local colleges and privately, 5 years as a teacher. With all of my experience I have not lost my enthusiasm for teaching, nor my understanding of difficulties in this first foray into modern mathematics. I hope that you can learn a little of my love of it as well. [more]

I started tutoring 6 years ago. I needed something flexible as I was furthering my education in neurobiology, physiology, and behavior. Now I need something flexible while I build a business! I hope to one day become a multiple business owner like Marcus Lemonis. I love math and science. I have patience for every student who is willing to learn. I do recognize there are different learning styles and try to cater to them. Education is all about communication. In order to learn we need to know ... [more]
