I have been teaching algebra for over 10 years as an adjunct math professor at the local community college. I create resources that help students understand and remember the concepts ~ students enjoy math once they learn how to do it! Some of my students have grasped the logic behind math so well that after a year they no longer need tutoring, and they succeed in more advanced math courses! It always bothered me when students got "turned off" to math at an early age, due to a bad teacher, frustration, or lack of interest. Math is a basic skill that is needed to manage life. I try to ease a [more]

In order to succeed in algebra you will need to learn and know the order of operations to simplify an expression with numbers, which will be used in all equations. You will need to know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers. You will need to know the rules for exponents or powers of a base. Commutative, associative, and distributive properties of real numbers are used frequently in algebra. These are the beginning basic rules of algebra. I cannot express enough how important that it is to know and memorize the basic rules of algebra when you first start to learn algebra. If you [more]
