As a biochemist, algebra is a common part of the day and I use it regularly. Not only am I familiar with the concepts of advanced algebra, I'm also capable of applying them to real world settings and problems. I also have teaching experience in a college setting in which the students had very diverse math backgrounds (some almost no algebra at all) but their success in the class required them to become proficient with more advanced algebra, not only in the abstract but also in real settings. I have had a successful career in the academic science field, studying, researching, and tutoring in ch [more]

Hello! My name is Christine, and I have been teaching since 2004. I have a B.S. in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley and a M.S. in mathematics from California State University. I currently teach at the University level and have taught everything from basic math and algebra all the way up to calculus. I started my college career at a community college. The first class I ever taught was Intro to Statistics and it is the class I have taught more than any other course. I have also taught... [more]

I've tutored Algebra 2 at Jefferson High School in the past, and found many ways to explain the concepts in ways that stick. Confidence is one of the most important aspects of academic achievement. I build student confidence by asking questions and creating a scaffold for students to learn with. This formula encourages students to take an active role in their learning. When students find the answers themselves, they are much more likely to remember those answers when they need them, be it on the ACT or in college courses. One of the best things about this method is it can be used even after th [more]

I have always been curious about how the world works, and I love to bring others into that same curiosity. I work to understand different learning styles and bring in real-world examples from an area my students are interested in, and I connect concepts across disciplines: for example, I might use a biological concept to create context for a chemistry problem. I have tutored remedial chemistry at the high school level and AP Chemistry. I have also taught AP Biology at a local high school ... [more]

I also tutor different levels of Physics (both calculus and non-calculus based), general inorganic chemistr... [more]

I am an experienced middle school, high school, and adult education math teacher (18 years) with loads of experience tutoring on a one-on-one basis, also. I believe you should ENJOY the math you are studying -- at least as much as possible! In addition, I feel my strength as a tutor is working with students who have had an uncomfo... [more]

I'm Ryan! I am a PhD in mathematics and a former professor in the applied math department at CU, and yes, I wrote those nasty tests :). I work in tech now and am looking to get back into tutoring and teaching; I miss solving problems and helping people understand what a beautiful subject it is. I am a patient person and understand how frustrating this subject can be. I have literally taught 10's of thousands of students from middle school through adult and I am sure I can help you no matter w... [more]

I teach honors-level algebra 2 in the classroom to many students. I have also tutored students in the subject regularly after school. Students have reported increased skills and positive learning outcomes after taking my class in this subject. My tutoring method is inquiry-based and consists of asking the students questions to draw out pre-existing knowledge, then refining the questions to isolate which specific steps in the problem-solving process are causing confusion. I am an experienced high school math teacher and tutor who has worked with students from 6-12th grades, having taught or [more]

I have been teaching students from elementary school through adulthood since I was twelve years old. My mother, a teacher herself, showed me that students learn best when they are active participants in every stage of the learning process. Thus, I focus on understanding each student's educational background and learning style, so as to break each task into pieces that are easy for them to engage. I am energized by the tutoring process, and take great joy in seeing my students succeed. I am... [more]
