Algebra 2 deepens and broadens the concepts from Algebra 1. Often when students have an area from Algebra 1 that, for some reason, is missing from their math toolbox, moving forward can be frustrating -- or even impossible. I am good at assessing students who are struggling with Algebra 2, and then bolstering their skills. This focused work results in confidence for them to proceed successfully. I am a current math tutor with the Visions in Education program of the San Juan Unified School District. In this position, I provide tutoring in Algebra 2. I have taught a full course in Algebra 2. I am an engineer by training so I?m very familiar and comfortable with a wide range of mathematical concepts, including Algebra 2. I have also tutored several students over the years needing help with Math at both high school and college levels. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: As an undergraduate student at Florida International University (FIU) from 2001 to 2005, I often found myself tutoring my study groups in several subject areas, from Biochemistry to advanced Calculus, which greatly helped my performance in each class. By my senior year, I obtained a teaching assistantship for a graduate level clas [more]

Beyond a thorough review on basic Algebra I concepts at the beginning of the an Alg II textbook, core Algebra II curriculum includes basic operations with Matrices: ?, scalar products, products, & inverses; graphing families of functions; polynomials: synthetic division for polynomials; rational roots for polynomials in second degree and higher; the binomials Theorem; system of 2 by 2 or 3 by 3 linear equations via matrix; basic operations with complex numbers; composite & inverse functions; exponential and log functions; conics; sequences & series; periodic functions and trigonometry. I have extensive tutoring experience in high school math, including a year in which I taught a blind student Algebra II/Trigonometry using a braille textbook. I'm a graduate of U.C. Berkeley (Chemistry) and Stanford (M.S., Chemistry), and I've taught in high school and university classrooms and tutored privately since 1992. When I was at Stanford, my students gave me a teaching (T.A.) rating of 4.93/5.00, and I'm currently credentialed as a science and math teacher. While I was designing the ACT prep class at Oklahoma Christian School, a student asked me to help him get a perfect score of 36. [more]

My name is Ollie and I am currently a Psychology major at Saint Mary's College of California. I have tutored kids from ages 5 to 18 in every subject including some at the college level. Pretty much any subject that you'll need help in, I'm sure I could help. My strongest subject is Spanish. I learned Spanish at the same time as I learned English, so I'd love to tutor in that as well. I find I have a very simple approach as to how I teach which really helps students grasp more complicated sub... [more]

I have an aptitude for helping students reach their full potential. I have taken extensive math courses including calculus, differential equations, statistics and accounting. I tutored fellow students in math while studying engineering at Northwestern and Computer Science at NYU. I am currently a semi-retired investment manager. I love working with kids building their self worth. I find tutoring similar to coaching. I coached both of my children in youth soccer for 8 years. I have taken e... [more]
