At Cal State Fullerton, I taught Algebra II to a class of mostly international students. My students were comfortable asking me questions and coming to me during office hours for extra help. At Norco College, I regularly tutored Algebra II and had many students who would specifically ask for me because I was patient and explained ideas clearly. I have learned multiple ways of explaining the same concept so that I can communicate effectively with different students. My passion for mathematics began when I was in 11th grade. As a homeschooled student, I had a flexible schedule which allowed me [more]

I have been in many calculus classes that use algebra 2 on a daily bases as a college student. I am currently a college student at Santiago Canyon College studying Mechanical Engineering. Ever since I was young, science and math subjects have been the peak of my interest because of how life around us obeys by the invisible rules set by them. As I grew older, I realized many people don't understand or don't value the magic of numbers the way I do. That's when I realized I could make a difference in people's lives by reaching out to them and helping them understand the concepts of math. ... [more]

I hold a BS from UC Irvine (doubled major in math and bio science). I was selected to teach algebra in the federally sponsored Upward Bound program in which students live on the UC campus during the summer. I make frequent use of hands-on algebra tools to give students visual, aural and manual input on manipulating algebraic equations. Students see their scores and grades rise. My love of teaching stems from a life-long pursuit of the truth of how things work. As a graduate of the University of California, Irvine (double majoring in math and biological science), I can look back on many exampl [more]

Hi all, A little bit about myself - my name is Paul, I'm 28, and I graduated from Columbia University. I've taught every level of high school math for 10 years now (up to AP Calc BC for high school, and Ordinary Differential Equations for college). I have gotten perfect scores on everything relating to math (SAT I Math, SAT Math IIC, AP Calculus AB & BC, etc), and I qualified for the AIME as only a sophomore. But more importantly, I have the rare ability to remove the anxiety that learning... [more]

I've taken math courses up to and including multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations; and passed with excellent marks. Hello. My name is Omar E. I'm 21 years old and a senior in college majoring in electrical engineering and computer science. I chose this major because I enjoy working on circuits and coming up with new algorithms. I've tutored various levels of students ranging from elementary school to college. I also have experience as a lab assistant in one of my computer science courses in which I mentored students on various data structures. What I love most [more]

I moved from China before 10th grade and I had all the Chinese education before high school. I was born in Shanghai and stayed there for 16 years. Shanghai has the best English score among all the cities in China. I got 104 in TOEFL test, which is a English test for foreigners. I got A in the AP Calculus AB classes. I think math is really easy. I had the experience in teaching my friends math and science. They thought that I am a good teacher. I took Algebra II A for two semesters. I also ... [more]

Nothing can be more rewarding than seeing a student improve and knowing that you have made a difference in his/her life, making learning a joy not a responsibility. I have been tutoring college and high school students for chemistry, biology and math for more than five years. I have a B.S. from UCI in Neurobiology and will start medical school in UCSD in the fall of 2018. During my education, I have had great professors who made me feel the subjects, not memorize them; and I am doing my bes... [more]

The most valuable skills I utilize in tutoring math and physics are communication and student assessment. My technique is to focus on understanding a student?s thought process, and then teach the subject in the way that best fits that student?s thought process. Once the student understands the subject according to their own natural thought process, there is no need to memorize steps, because the student now truly understands the subject. This leads to the student reasoning their way to solu... [more]

I've taken a multitude of math courses, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, Single-variable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics. I have experience tutoring Pre-Algebra through Pre-Calculus-level courses. I volunteered as an assistant teacher to ESL students aged elementary to high school in 2010-2012. In 2017, I worked with STEM Tutors as a middle school and high school math and science tutor, and I hope to continue to inspire students on Wyzant. I enjoy tutoring because I can see when it "clicks" for a student, and they finally understand a [more]

My name is Kirstyn Alisse G. My passion for mathematics and education has led me to be a tutor for the past five years.
