It is important for students to understand Algebra 2 as a concept. Many teachers are used to giving lectures following the textbook which may not always be easy to understand and may leave a student feeling overwhelmed. My teaching methods ensure that my students feel confident in their Algebra 2 abilities by making the subject as simple as possible. I was nominated for the Pursuit of Excellence award (the highest award recognized at my school) in math due to my academic achievements in my honors Algebra 2 class my sophomore year. [more]

Certification test test passed with 100% score! The purpose of math, more than any other subject, is to increase logic and ability to make decisions. Algebra 2 is where you build upon the foundation established in Algebra 1. Topics include linear and quadratic equations, functions and inverses, graphing and translating, exponents, radicals and logarithms. I can help you with these. So much of Math is an application of functions and a good knowledge of Algebra will serve you well and provide an excellent foundation if you go on to take Trigonometry, Precalculus and Calculus. With over 15 yrs experience, I have a solid background in tutoring students from elementary math to college algebra. I also have an extensive tutoring background in a variety of subjects, including but not limited to Language Arts and Biology as well as Math. A sample of my experience consists of helping students write essays, interpret bio-scientific concepts, and solve quadratic equations. My specialized area is math with age groups varying from preschool to college level. I have experie... [more]

I have been teaching and tutoring math since I was in college, and have been doing it professionally for the last 15 years. I tutor mostly high school and college students, but I have tutored 3rd grade thru univesity too. I enjoy math and I have many different ways to approach difficult subjects. I am NOT big on memorizing formulas, although there are a few that DO need to be memorized. I try to approach math from a logical perspective so that the formulas and functions make sense. I am ... Algebra II has a whole host of new concepts including advanced factoring, function transformations, sequences, and series. We learn the relationship between exponential and log functions. I also enjoy connecting with the student to demonstrate how synthetic division, long division, factoring, finding the zeros, graphing a polynomial, and evaluating a polynomial are all related. I believe students should be confident in their math skills. By getting good grades in school, their options in life (e.g. jobs, career paths) are kept open. I gauge where the student is at in knowing the concepts by [more]

The topics covered in this course range from factoring to probability to conics. It requires some mental stamina to keep it all in perspective. But the techniques in this course are essential for more advanced science and math courses. Because I also teach the more advanced subjects I can help develop and keep these skills for future purposes. I have been around instructors for my entire life. My mother was a general tutor for the neighborhood and I helped her when our small apartment was stuffed with children and textbooks, writing, reading and aiding them with math after my own homework was [more]

I have experience tutoring for undergraduate level math courses, including algebra 2. I am currently a graduate student at UC Irvine studying to get my PhD in Physical Chemistry. My knowledge base includes other science topics including: physics, biochemistry, math, and programming. I have four years experience as a teaching assistant for undergraduate chemistry courses. These include general chemistry, lab courses, physical chemistry, and computational methods. During this time, I've held full classroom discussions, mentored small groups, and provided one-on-one lessons for s... [more]

I believe most students will find the second part of Algebra to be a welcome return to ideas introduced to them before Geometry. Most of my thousands of hours of experience as a tutor has been centered on the topics encountered in this subject. From my education in Physics, I have come to believe that essentially all mathematical analysis will reduce to the algebraic expressions studied in this subject, and I believe a sturdy base of comprehension of it will be fundamental to all students who seek a university education in Engineering of any kind. It also introduces the larger part of those [more]

I have tutored and studied, at a graduate level, a broad range a math topics focusing on calculus and statistics. I have found math tutoring to be one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. Many students report that they do not like math and/or are not good at math. Many of the people I have tutored have experienced success in math for the first time and that success was all they needed to change their mind, at least somewhat, on both counts. I love math, and it is very rewarding ... [more]

From polynomials, to functions to graphs. I will help make the subject of Algebra make sense and even make it a little fun! I have helped many students improve their study skills and test scores in this subject. I can help explain the topic in a way that makes sense, and I can help if earlier algebra skills are lacking. I have an undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Mathematics and Statistics with a Finance Cognate. I helped run the Math tutoring lab for almost 5 years, and have been tutoring for longer than that, having worked for 3 different companies before I started my own business. [more]
