The principles required for mastery of both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 are identical. The expression of these principles, however, is a little different. The hurdles people usually confront with Algebra 2 come mainly from their relying on memorizing procedures and rules. The only problem with that is as you memorize more and more material, you'll eventually come to a point where you'll have trouble distinguishing one formula from another and even when to apply them. To excel in math is to comprehend, and that's exactly what I help my students do. We build from the fundamentals and continue bui [more]

I am certified to teach math in Florida and have been tutoring for over 20 years with great success, including Algebra 2! The love for physics and math came at an early age, as my father was a physicist, and has helped me to be able to explain the most complex of concepts with relative ease making them understandable to my students. I have been tutoring Physics and Math for over 10 years with great success. I have taught HONORS PHYSICS, AP PHYSICS 1 with algebra and AP PHYSICS C with calculus in the Broward County school district for the last 2 years with great success and I am certified to [more]

Before I get to my experience, I would like to discuss my theory of tutoring. My goal with tutoring is to get my tutoree (I made that up) to understand the material so that they can do the tasks themselves. I typically break down the tasks into mini steps so that the person I am helping can fill in any gaps they might have. Instead of doing the homework with my tutoree, I use examples that I come up with, which enables the student to grasp the concept and do the homework themselves (Hooray!).... [more]

I have tutored students in Algebra 2 for regular Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2, or intensive Algebra 2. I also tutor for tests that include Algebra 2 concepts: SAT-Math (see separate description), ACT-Math (see description), EOC-Algebra 2, etc. I provide help for internet-based assignments and programs as well: FLVS, ALEKS, MyLabsPlus, IXL, MathXL, etc. I also tutor college students in College Algebra (MAT/MAC 1105). For Algebra 2, I want to serve as a guide. My first goal is to explain notions. Algebra 2 is much more complex than Algebra 1, and it is critical to understand notions to apply the [more]

I have always had an affinity for math. When tutoring students, I like to use intuitive, real-world examples and ideas in order to help students understand, (not just memorize) mathematical formulas and concepts. By putting myself into the mindset of the student, I can explain math in a way that is different than the average teacher, helping students to relate with and internalize the concepts. I have been head of my class in Algebras I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I, and I have used this educational experience to help students improve their own performance. I have been teaching at a center school for the past 9 years. During my teaching career I was fortunate enough to have different kinds of students from regular education to ADHD and SLD. This diverse student body enabled me to constantly adapt to specific student needs. My teaching assignments have mostly been math, but I have also taught reading and science. I have been exposed to different types of learners and I love it! I strive to tailor my teaching to their needs. One question that... [more]

I am currently a 4th year medical student at University of Miami. I will soon be matching into Pediatrics. During my undergraduate and medical school careers, I have tutored students in a variety of math and science classes. I have experience tutoring inner-city elementary school mathematics as well as reading to children with developmental disorders. I believe firmly in learning the process of answering a question through manipulating equations and not by plugging in numbers and seeing what... [more]

I have taught / tutored continuously Algebra 2, including a class of home schoolers who opted for a teacher to help them. We completed the assigned Algebra 2 textbook, and literally decorated the room with their graphs that everyone of them contributed. I am an Electrical Engineer registered in the state of Florida, and have been certified to teach physics and math at the high school level. As a professional teacher of mathematics, I enjoy the subject as well as teach it. With two daughters in school, one encouraged me to teach at the high school level. The other then visited my classroom, enc [more]
