Hello. I am a lifelong learner of math and science who likes to connect the dots, and I would like to share what I have learned. I have taught algebra and trigonometry in college. I have also tutored high school and college algebra, calculus, and everything in between for several years, plus linear algebra and differential equations. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor's in math and a minor in physics. I was not always interested in math, but I was always interested in science. ... [more]

I am enthusiastic about tutoring math and physics, it's a joy to help students see the beauty of math and science. I have degrees in math and Physics from Southern Methodist Univeristy, a Masters in Physical Oceanography (think Physics of the Ocean) from UH and am in the process of earning my PhD. I've taught math and physics courses on the university and graduate levels as well as tutored students from elementary school all the way up to graduate school. I find working through problems ... Algebra is one of the fundamental areas of mathematics. Algebra is a logic system that uses symbols to represent relationships between quantities. Algebra is used to solve all sorts of problems, from accounting to manufacturing. Algebra topics that I tutor include nomenclature, inequalities, word problems, quadratics, substitutions, rational expressions and equations, systems of equations, and many more, as well as all related and prerequisite concepts. I have tutored many students in Algebra over the past few years. [more]

I have experience teaching summer school algebra at Kaimuki High School as well as teaching/TAing college level algebra (Math 134/140) at UH Manoa. Ever since I was in elementary school I've had a passion for teaching. I loved to help others learn topics that I understood and the friendships/connections I have made as a result. In high school, I tutored and TA'd for Japanese. At the University of Notre Dame, I was a university tutor in Japanese and during the summers I TA'd for high school mathematics. I am now a graduate student and graduate assistant at the University of Hawaii at Ma [more]

I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I tutored all levels of math while in high school (it was a requirement for both precalculus and AP calculus in high school) When I recently worked at a middle school, I tutored 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in math from Math 3 to Algebra 1. I am good at explaining math because it is logically intuitive to me. Algebra 2 is a step above Algebra 1 but I remember and understand the concepts. Hi, My name is Peter, I graduated from USC this past May with a degree in Psychology. I know what it feels like to struggle in a subject and end up hating [more]

I have taken many high level math courses and have found that a solid foundation in algebra is invaluable. What has helped me the most is learning to convert an algebraic expression into common english so I can easily determine the solution. This is what I aim to teach students so that they can solve any expression on their own. I know what it's like to struggle with Chemistry. When I started college, I picked it up as my major (I had a great high school teacher) but quickly felt lost and bewildered in my first semester of general chemistry. My biggest mistake that first year was trying to do [more]

For as long as I can remember, I've loved teaching. I began as a peer tutor of Spanish and math in high school, and later I made a living teaching English to locals and Japanese to fellow foreigners during the four years I lived in Japan after graduation from college. After returning to the U.S., I spent two years teaching "behind the scenes" as an author and editor of online accounting homework problems for Aplia (part of Cengage Learning). I now spend most of my days offering standardized t... [more]
