I have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer from the University of Virginia. I was a TA, lab demonstrator, college tutor. I also tutored elementary to high school students part time. I enjoy teaching and take pride in imparting knowledge to my students. It is always rewarding to see students improve their grades, but most of all, I love it when they have those "eureka" moments. I have always been excellent at Math. I scored 780 on the math section of the SAT and 800 (perfect score... [more]

Algebra is one of the fundamental areas of mathematics. Algebra is a logic system that uses symbols to represent relationships between quantities. Algebra is used to solve all sorts of problems, from accounting to manufacturing. Algebra topics that I tutor include nomenclature, inequalities, word problems, quadratics, substitutions, rational expressions and equations, systems of equations, and many more, as well as all related and prerequisite concepts. I have tutored many students in Algebra over the past few years. [more]

Hello. I am a lifelong learner of math and science who likes to connect the dots, and I would like to share what I have learned. I have taught algebra and trigonometry in college. I have also tutored high school and college algebra, calculus, and everything in between for several years, plus linear algebra and differential equations. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor's in math and a minor in physics. I was not always interested in math, but I was always interested in science. ... [more]

For as long as I can remember, I've loved teaching. I began as a peer tutor of Spanish and math in high school, and later I made a living teaching English to locals and Japanese to fellow foreigners during the four years I lived in Japan after graduation from college. After returning to the U.S., I spent two years teaching "behind the scenes" as an author and editor of online accounting homework problems for Aplia (part of Cengage Learning). I now spend most of my days offering standardized t... [more]

I am one of the few people in the entire world to have scored an 800 on the SAT (revised standards). This unique differentiation has helped me to gain entrance to exceptionally selective schools like the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. To be honest, my I.Q is average. However, I have made up for this deficiency over my entire life through very hard work, perseverance, and by focusing upon basic math and science i... [more]

I am enthusiastic about tutoring math and physics, it's a joy to help students see the beauty of math and science. I have degrees in math and Physics from Southern Methodist Univeristy, a Masters in Physical Oceanography (think Physics of the Ocean) from UH and am in the process of earning my PhD. I've taught math and physics courses on the university and graduate levels as well as tutored students from elementary school all the way up to graduate school. I find working through problems ... I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I tutored all levels of math while in high school (it was a requirement for both precalculus and AP calculus in high school) When I recently worked at a middle school, I tutored 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in math from Math 3 to Algebra 1. I am good at explaining math because it is logically intuitive to me. Algebra 2 is a step above Algebra 1 but I remember and understand the concepts. Hi, My name is Peter, I graduated from USC this past May with a degree in Psychology. I know what it feels like to struggle in a subject and end up hating [more]

My primary field is Information Technology and I've been doing it for over 25 years. I've lived on 4 different continents and taught in 4 different languages. My PhD thesis was in mathematics but I do ESL, Computer Science, and Business as well. I am living in Hawaii now but plan to move back to China soon. I always try to make people comfortable and I speak at a level that they can understand. I love to see the lights come on. Patience and experience - I've learned how to identify t... [more]

I have six years experience teaching high school math. Since staying home to raise my own children I have tutored half a dozen students in math -- half of these in Algebra 2. I have also spent the last three years substitute teaching preschool through high school. We have just moved back to Hawaii and I plan on going back to teaching high school math, but thought I would start substitute teaching and then I saw the advertisement for a tutor needed in Algebra 2 in Mililani which seemed perf... I am not an Engineer but I spent many years doing engineering work. From this experience I applied many math models to solve real world problems not only in engineering but also in business. I have a graduate degree in business management. I spent 25 years at HPU as a Management and Math professor. I believe that young people need to know why they are studying math. In my teaching style I like to incorporate real world examples to better understand the process. ... [more]
