You'll use again everything you learned in Algebra I and then learn how to use those things in subtler and more sophisticated ways. Your abstract thinking will improve and your problem solving skills will grow. I hold two master's degrees -- one in applied mathematics, one in physics. I started teaching math in 1999. While many of the intervening years saw me as a part-time adjunct instructor of mathematics, I did enjoy a full-time appointment to the math faculty of Alabama A&M University for 5 of those years. I have also used my skills in industry and government, most notably at NASA and Inte [more]

In sixth grade, I took a math placement exam and scored high enough to be put in a math class 3 grade levels above my own level (Algebra 1). This resulted in me taking this class in 8th grade (when it is normally taught in 11th), in a small class with 19 other of students. Having over 9 years of experience with this subject gives me a unique content knowledge, as well as the ability to see where Algebra 2 applies to daily life. Additionally, I tutored a high-school girl in this subject for almost a year. [more]

I am a Ph.D. student in Space Science at University of Alabama in Huntsville. I've been in Huntsville, AL since January 2015 where I started interning at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. I graduated from Florida Tech with my B.S. in Astrobiology in the Spring of 2014. My undergraduate degree plunged me into the depths of chemistry, physics, biology, space science, and higher-level math, most of which have led me to become an expert in any high school math class as well as introductory col... I've been a teacher and a tutor in the past. I have a sincere fondness for mathematics; in fact it is the only reason one of my two majors in college was mathematics. I'm a software systems engineer by trade. I enjoy sharing knowledge. I want you to enjoy these sessions too, or at a minimum, feel good about them. I enjoy Mathematics and Logic, and the opportunity to review, discuss, and learn is always welcome. I've tutored both Math and Computer Science in the past. I've also been a teacher at the college level. I enjoy sharing information, and find tutoring to be both fun and rewarding. P [more]

I enjoy working with students to break down difficult-to-grasp concepts into small pieces in order to help solve problems. I try to also emphasize the importance of systematically attacking the problem. Upon continued practice, this usually results in the student developing more self confidence in being able to solve math problems, which is rewarding to student and myself! I enjoy learning new things and try to emphasize to students the importance of having a good attitude, and trying his/... [more]

Hi! I am a patient and friendly tutor that will work with students to help master a given area of study. As students have various levels of understanding on a specific subject, I first try and find out what your current level is so I can adjust the tutoring sessions accordingly. I am very good at helping students understand concepts and the broader picture when relevant. I help students learn to solve problems on their own by breaking the problems down into simpler steps and showing how probl... [more]
